Oregon’s SB 686 aims to support local media—but it may do more harm than good. @Logan_Kolas wrote a letter to the Oregon Senate explaining how this bill could undermine fair digital competition. Read more 👇 #orleg #SB686 #consumersfirst

It is all about controlling the narrative. Whatever the PTB decides is acceptable or not for public consumption. They will sprinkle a little Chinese espionage on it and throw you in jail for "spying" but in reality they are just squashing political dissidents.

From LA to San Francisco, domestic employers showed up in solidarity with @CADomesticWrker to let @CAgovernor @GavinNewsom know that employers reject his use of us to veto #SB686 and say: #NotInOurName!

We showed up in LA this morning with @CADomesticWrker to express our disappointment in @CAgovernor’s decision to veto #SB686, which would have ended exclusions of domestic workers from basic health and safety protections.
He can veto our bill, but he will not veto our dignity!

📍Governor Newsom’s office in LA
Our communities are HERE to show our power after @CAgovernor @GavinNewsom vetoed #SB686. ✊🏽✊🏽✊🏽 This only means we come back STRONGER until we win health and safety protectors for ALL domestic workers‼️

#ICYMI: @CAgovernor vetoed #SB686, "Why it matters: Domestic workers are mostly women of color who have suffered from asthma and arthritis because of their working conditions ... (1/Thread) 🧵https://t.co/IAP9cxIR9e
.@CAgovernor @GavinNewsom stood on the wrong side of history by vetoing #SB686. He blamed us, domestic employers, for his decision. We are outraged, & we will be showing our collective power, anger, & grief on 10/12 in LA & SF. Join us & say #NotInOurName: https://t.co/p1j7hN58Dz
THE FIGHT CONTINUES! 🧹🏠
Join us on OCT 12 as we demand equality and dignity and continue to push for the health & safety domestic workers need to thrive.

We thank our fearless leader @SenMariaEDurazo ✊🏽 We will continue the legacy of the generations of women of color before us who have fought for equality and dignity for their labor! #SB686
FYI: #SB686 was one I was following/supporting. It was to make sure that domestic workers are protected when they get sick or have accidents at work. Gov. Newsom did a slash act at the end of the month. What a better way to start prepping for that debate no one asked him to do.
We are deeply disappointed and saddened by @CAgovernor @GavinNewsom’s veto of SB 686 (@SenMariaEDurazo). With a swipe of the pen, he has upheld the unequal exclusion of hundreds of thousands of women of color and immigrant women from basic labor protections.

A horrible veto! And @GavinNewsom's veto message made it even worse! He should have vetoed #SB686 without the message.
Gov’s veto on #SB686 after domestic workers worked so FREAKING HARD for FOUR years to win Gov’s support is beyond BRUTAL
Nothing but Love and respect for @CADomesticWrker and @SenMariaEDurazo Always ❤️💔✊🏻
We applaud @GavinNewsom
signing @SB567 protecting low-income renters. We are deeply disappointed in his veto of #SB686 protecting domestic workers. We will return until the needs of these vulnerable workers are understood and recognized .
