One thing that really excited me was that the demos for hREA, We, and Neighbourhoods all attracted people outside of our little Holochain bubble. Lots of interest from #SecureScuttlebutt folks, which for me carries the hope that bridges are being built!

There is a direct cost to spreading and #SelfHosting information in the form of hard drive space. Therefore spam does not spread very easily.

@ifoundtheme have you come across any literature on the comparative ecological cost of 'true' P2P -- non-blockchain stacks like #SecureScuttlebutt, @HypercoreProto, Git, @IPFS, @holochain, #GUNdb -- against cloud? I wonder what the equation would look like there.
(I should note here that Holochain isn't 100% unique in this regard; other agent-centric systems (@HypercoreProto, #SecureScuttlebutt, @Peergos, @spritelyproject) have similar privacy and freedom advantages. It's agent-centricity that makes the real magic.)
