And let’s not forget the #shadowprison @VCBR_Burkeville posing as a treatment facility yet uses the same vendors as @VADOC AND the people there have served their time already. @HopeforVirginia tried there too but the profits are too great. Rehab and prevention mean nothing!
There is little oversight of @VADOC period—meals or otherwise. $1.4 billion a year of taxpayer money; and over 20,000 of our fellow Virginians are in their *care*. And no oversight. @HopeforVirginia’s ombudsman would have been a great start.

Meanwhile… #Virginia has institute a reverse parole system by sending people *not* under its parole scheme to a #ShadowPrison AFTER finishing their sentences — on essentially identical grounds to why they would be denied parole if they were actually under parole.

Sadly in 20 states (& the federal govt) some people are NOT released when their time is done — they’re transferred to a ‘not-a-prison’ prison under “civil” law and held indefinitely for what they might do in the future.
