•Compararon 3 planos apicales:
•A4C estándar
•A4C enfocado a VD
•A4C modificado del VD
•Evaluaron:
•Valor de TAPSE
•Ángulo de incidencia del haz
•Correlación con strain longitudinal del VD
•Reproducibilidad intra e interobservador

#TAPSE:
•Normal >1.7 cm
•Mild: 1.7–1.3 cm
•Moderate: 1.3–1.0 cm
•Severe: <1.0 cm
What’s the cut-off for #TAPSE when assessing RV systolic function?
According to the 2025 ASE guideline, a normal #TAPSE is >1.7 cm (Table 1: RV systolic function).
• Mild dysfunction: 1.3–1.7 cm
• Moderate: >1.0–1.3 cm
• Severe: ≤1.0 cm

Why not use RVEF by #3DEcho or #whyCMR to avoid all issues related to angle-dependence of #TAPSE?
Do we really need more studies to show that we need robust and reproducible measures of RV function, and that TAPSE is not one of them?

“How do you optimize your TAPSE view? This JASE article provides excellent insights 👇” Optimal Cut Plane for Tricuspid Annular Plane Systolic Excursion Measurement - Journal of the American Society of Echocardiography https://t.co/lzhGjUo91r.

New TAPSE thresholds based on mortality data
of 25k patients
finds excess mortality starts at a TAPSE of
<20.9 mm not at current cutoff of <17 mm
Pts with significant TR had excess mortality at lower TAPSE <18 mm threshold c/w pts w/o significant TR https://t.co/Eo93ifuo7t

I’ve walked past heaps of times and never seen what he is measuring with those callipers, but I reckon it’s probably TAPSE #echofirst #CardioTwitter #TAPSE @britishlibrary
㊗️Dr. Sanada finished
The evaluation of #TAPSE in #TOF. TAPSE evaluation in TOF was underestimated, and focused on mid in particular by dividing the RV wall using RV strain. Note because this mid is underestimated
