First rain band is coming in, two balloons in the air including a #windsond. The smaller windsond will be used more extensively later in the eye/eyewall as its harder to launch the bigger @VaisalaGroup balloons.

Right at about 24 hrs later we have a functional #windsond vehicle for #TORUS19 Not much sleep and a lot of help from people like @ZBWx1 and @kielortega and @WX5GLK (and numerous others). Got some fine tuning to do but we’re ready to roll. #science @NOAANSSL @OUCIMMS

Friday evening's #Windsond (from @sparvsensors) sounding. We chased it to the VT/NH border to keep it within radio range. Incredibly strong wind field lofted it 80km east of Lyndon before we lost the signal. If there'd been instability, we would've had tornadic potential

.@NWSBurlington & @NWSGray we plan to launch a #Windsond weather balloon at 0Z this evening to sample the low-level temperature and wind profile ahead of the cold frontal passage, & we'll share the data with you!

@NWSBurlington @NWSGray @ajfroggie @WeatherEric @jayshaferwx Finally, our 12Z #Windsond sounding from today. Warm nose of 0C at 700mb (note the Windsond may have a slight cold bias). Snowing at time of launch. Temperature spec of Windsonds only goes down to -40C

We launched a #Windsond from @sparvsensors shortly after 12Z today. Lost the signal above 462mb (filled in data above that with mandatory level data from @NWSGray)
