"all light passing through angular apertures is projected in a circular form."
-- #Witelo, c. 1277
His work called ‘#Perspectiva’ c.1274 was translated into English as ‘Thesaurus of Optics’ in 1572. It was the principal book on optics until the #17thcentury. -30-
Among those that Alhazen inspired, were #Witelo, John #Peckham, #RogerBacon, #DaVinci, #RenéDescartes, and #JohannesKepler, all of whom I have posted on.
Below, the structure of the human eye according to Alhazen from his own hand.
Alhazen also analyzed the rays of sunlight and concluded that they make a conic shape where they meet at the hole, forming another conical shape reverse to the first one from the hole, to the opposite wall in the dark room.

CLAUDE FRANCOIS MILLIET DE CHALES (1621-1678)
On page 666 of his second edition of 'Cursus S. Mundus', (published posthumously) #DeChales details his meeting with #Walgensten back in 1665. In the section on optics, De Chales tells us he knew the retinal image is reversed.
