#DATAMATTAS .....I am fortunate to have many days that I learn from being #wrongagainreilly. Today I had a rare "aha moment". Hear me out and feel free to tell me I am .....wrong.....again.....reilly.
Had one side of greens program run and back nine didn't run. Been working with a product called @SolidDew. It has done a great job distributing moisture (pic 2 and 3) but today i realized it does an even better job drying greens down uniformly (pic 3 and 4), which when I think on it could be way more useful in the Plant Health=Plant Performance matrix. Think of when a green flashed on you; rarely is it the entire green. It happens in spots. With today's sensor technology we could push playability safely and root mass conceivably at the same time.
Any thoughts?
Maybe not #wrongagainreilly but certainly more than one way to get it done. I prefer the biology route but the #Profile 90/ 10 is performing well pic 3. Any thoughts from those of you in X town soil mixes you like?
I agreed with your illustration for many years, but as usual #wrongagainreilly. The problem isn't a three foot hunk of aluminum. The problem is the expectation that is associated with the concept of speed from golfers and supes. It is purely a one dimensional measure of distance in opposing directions. The number is just the number nothing more until we give it an arbitrary value.
The intention of golf is to use the least amount of strokes to hole out. The function of the turf performance in our game is to strike a balance between challenge and ease of holing out, and that is multi-faceted. The stimpmeter along with other metrics is agronomically valuable to this primate.
#wrongagainreilly I thought was just a chapter in my life but it is quickly turning into a textbook. My entire career I hung my shingle on the quality of my greens and thought it was all due to my agronomic acumen.
Upon meeting @MikeRollinsSIP, running #GS3 from @USGAGrnSection for years, and finally partnering with @textron to employ the best cutting units in the business all the credit goes to the the TECHKNOWS settings the mowers really.
We have one more piece coming soon from a new partner that is looking to increase health and performance in a big big way. Double zeros on smoothness & trueness may be a regular occurrence while raising HOC. Super Stoked.

18 months ago, I would have said steer clear of Paspalum as a landscape grass. #wrongagainreilly. With autonomous mowing and limited inputs, Paspalum is the most sustainable grass option on this salt-is-life-island @TownofLBK.
Check out the stunning recover from 5 days of no irrigation post install in pics 3 and 4. In less than nine days in less than stellar growing conditions the turf is almost fully recovered after ordering 4000 sq ft of replacement sod.

Everyone who knows me knows I love to trust the numbers and I get an extra kick out of it when the numbers don't support what I thought all along, hence #wrongagainreilly.
@TloweTgrass in his new venture #TLC tested 3 of our greens at Links on @LBKCR prior to cultural practices this summer and again in November post cultural practices. One green was a control, one green we used biological inputs along with sand, and the final green we injected straight sand.
This was the kickoff to monitoring our yearly summertime efforts. Multiple years of this testing will give us a clearer picture. I highly recommend this type of collection for all turf managers to quantify their efforts.
This year's results at Links @LBKCR:
1) I like many of you would think straight sand dilution X4 on small centers would create the greatest reduction in OM and would increase infiltration. It was opposite.
2) We hoped incorporation of biological inputs would reduce OM in top layer and enhance infiltration rates. It did for sure.
3) Stain layer dilution occurred in both injection protocols.
4) Root mass increased in control and both injection protocols v. coring.
F.I.R.M's early suggestions based on results:
1) Measure before and after cultural practices regardless of your procedures with @TloweTgrass.
2) Incorporate and experience the benefits of no labor/wet material injection in your cultural practices next year.
3) Consider multiple tight spacing injections with biological products and sand to better manage your OM and infiltration rates.
I am no expert; in fact most things I learn are responses to being initially #wrongagainreilly. One thing working for me these days is saying internally, "it is always beginning" instead of what I said for years, "it never ends."
It keeps me in the present and open to a myriad of responses. Sorry for the preach. Have a great weekend.
Literally I got jump-out-of-my-skin excited because my calculations produced double the percentage but unfortunately #wrongagainreilly didn't square the radius. Thanks to @golfsupe@golfsupersteve for teaching gramps here new math. At the end of the day the FIRM is still accomplishing the final goals: 1)maximum impact with minimum mechanical stress and footprint, 2)recovery to performance is fractional compared to traditional cultural practices, and 3) maybe most importantly, impact on club staff is minimal.

We hosted an interclub event past Thus & "primate the ripper" & his ego took over. We raised HOC beginning of week from .075 to .080, still crazy low. In one pass I went from looking at groomers to backtracking/ groomers on & got some road rash on the Blue 9. #wrongagainreilly
