We have some news to share about the future of Something New. In short, the party is going to shut down, but the work will continue under the @OpenPoliticsUK banner, working with other parties and organisations. See https://t.co/VPx7SwRiOF for all the details.
@TiernanDouieb @morefromchris@something_phil our party leader @floppy has a load of blog posts from 2015 about the process at https://t.co/AD1XKTK3Vh, which have a bit more on this.
@TiernanDouieb @morefromchris@something_phil The more the better, but a good minimum is you need to raise £1500 per candidate for a Westminster election, in order to get on the ballot and get a leaflet out. For local council elections, probably £500 a shot is a reasonable target.
Brexit and the government’s handling of it is a national disaster. Petitions to government may not do much, but we need to raise our voices where we can. Stop this shambles now, revoke Article 50! https://t.co/skS6F7EXry
Have voted today in Bromley where ID was required - older lady arrived while I was there and knew nothing about the requirement to bring ID - no matter how much info you put out it’s not going to reach everyone. Whether she’ll come back, who knows
Yeah I know they are "just" council elections but if you care about social services, education, housing, or homelessness, they matter. Vote, vote, vote.
If you've ever heard the words...
"Party X can't win here. Don't waste your vote!"
...or...
"A vote for Party X is a vote for Party Y"
...then it's time to #MakeVotesMatter!

We think political parties - including us - should be required by law to publish their ad campaigns and targeting. We voluntarily publish ours here: https://t.co/bCkC08dTq6 https://t.co/tGDkYKHnD3
It's a beautiful day for some democracy ☀️. Good luck to Gino @PeoplePowerBrum candidate for North Edgbaston & don't forget to vote wherever you are
2017 election

- Liberal Democrats 2.3 million votes
- SNP >1 million votes
14.6 MILLION DID NOT VOTE
Every vote counts.
RT if you are registered to vote.
If not, do it by *APRIL 17TH* here: https://t.co/0Q3ErBEsML
@whiterose_lady We also want to reform the UN so that the threat of vetos is no longer issue, making action in some cases more likely to get support https://t.co/A65qhJsbA3
Is it right that a single person, voted in by a minority, can weild such phenomenally destructive power, with so few checks and balances, in our name? https://t.co/qDpPZghRxZ
@whiterose_lady We don't like it, and we are trying to change it. In fact or policy is that the UK should only act unilaterally with the UN or NATO https://t.co/q2a8Gli1dF
So yes, we will criticise a system that we see as flawed and try to get in and change it.
