@keyhyers@mathillustrated@NCTM Glad to see an actual math teacher running for the board! There is a place and need for others in the community but NCTM should be run by K-12 TEACHERS of mathematics.
@Amplify or @ddmeyer; any public announcement about if or when Desmos Geometry and Algebra 2 may be coming? (enjoying the fun of curriculum adoption this year)
@cluzniak With so much teacher turnover, the textbook is a tool that helps ensure a consistent curriculum; it helps that we have a book that actually reflects our team vision and pedagogy
? for HS Math in traditional AGA: has anyone considered starting Alg 2 with Trig? Connect with Geo and use as on-level context to refresh Alg 1 as needed; I am done with spending a semester teaching Alg 1 again. #mathchat
@mathillustrated We are beginning implementation of pathways similar to those in the last @steve_leinwand book. 2 years integrated and then STEM and Stats pathways. STEM option gets AP Calc without 8th gr Algebra
@alexanderrusso There seems to be confusion in equating rigorous with accelerated. Seems odd that math is the only subject where that is the assumption.
@HKorbey@edutopia Call me the rare pro-textbook teacher; I spent 20 years in textbook publishing before returning to teaching. I do not have the time or expertise to attempt to build or curate a curriculum on my own.
@debatemathpod We are looking for a 4th year course with more universally known learning standards to replace one of our other Year 4 options. @CollegeBoard has a litany of challenges but we think this offering meets a need for our community.
@debatemathpod I would also love to hear a debate on @DrKChilds statement that a student would have a better learning experience in an online environment with a college prof than with a certified HS teacher in a face-to-face learning community
Great discussion with powerful voices; one missing point in favor of the course: it gives stakeholders a common set of standards when determining the rigor of the course as Common Core and many states do not offer standards

We expect more from the College Board. The proposed AP Precalculus is a misguided money grab with harmful impact on school mathematics. See our case in this open letter and, if so inclined, retweet and/or add your name as a math teacher for change: https://t.co/JHv6fialX2
Cards Against Humanity is donating 100% of their profits to the National Network of Abortion Funds if the order comes from a state restricting abortion access.
If someone selects “I didn’t agree to this” an additional $5 donation is added to their cart. 😂
Did you know our Global Math Stories are available in Spanish? We've just added a story about tejo, the "explosively" fun, national sport of Colombia. https://t.co/w6Uq4pNzgJ #MathIsEverywhere#GlobalMathStories
The fascinating history of the palenqueras of Cartagena, Colombia, is the subject of our new Global Math Story! Learn how the first officially free town in the Americas produced a cultural icon. Thanks to authors at @CNGBogota and teacher @haysmathman. https://t.co/CWQPfsSZQX
@Laurie_Rubel@todosmath@NCTM Challenging read for me: I see the need to avoid using sex and gender to create binary categorical data. My school community does not accept many of the article’s premises. What is my ethical and moral obligation to integrate these core beliefs?
