Everyone has an opinion on education because everyone went to school (well almost everyone!), this is just mine. Though I do have over 25 yrs teaching experience to back it up. :)
I guess it is only a matter of time before they also announce reintroducing C&A, remake of Ivor the Engine, Greenshield Stamps and fleets of Raleigh Choppers to replace Boris bikes. #nationalservice
@SaysMiss This is so true Kat. I work in a fairly small authority that was already struggling for capacity and services but post 2020 that has become rapidly worse.
‘It is very hard to educate a child who is hungry, cold or reeling from trauma. By stealth, schools have become the fourth emergency service, but not overtly by policy discussion and mutual decision: rather because other local services stopped.’
Bizarre to hear the govt speak of ‘banning’ teachers from teaching sex Ed to primary school children. Firstly we teach what you say we should be teaching. Secondly even that doesn’t include all the things ministers have been briefing to the press. Thirdly, stop taliking shite!
I have been fortunate enough to hear @tombennett71 speak a couple of times. Every time it has been some of the most sensible, informative and helpful inputs I have heard. Keep going Tom bringing common sense to the table.
Sitting in the garden trying to explain to my eldest why Ride On Time by Black Box was such a classic song. He is looking at me like I have two heads. #bigboxlittlebox
@Headteacherchat A few variables affect this but generally yes. As for colleague not wanting to engage I would suggest exploring other trusted friends / colleagues but after that you have tried best endeavour.
@tombennett71 Really key point this Tom. Always baffles me why people think one size fits all and that RJ is always the answer. It can work brilliantly but only in right circumstances.
@SamuelVimes10 Good point. We don’t necessarily have those skills and resources but we do try to be vigilant as to where RJ won’t work. As bad RJ can be very damaging.
