"Great teammates hold each other accountable to the high standards and excellence their culture expects and demands."
@jongordon11
Your culture is not what you say or hang on the wall; it's what you accept from one another on a daily basis.
PARENTS: When you blame other things (officials, coaches, conditions, circumstances, teammates) for the situation your son or daughter is in, then you're essentially teaching your child how to be an excuse maker. Set the standard. Be the standard.
On every team, there is a core group that sets the tone for everyone else.
If the tone is positive, you have half the battle won.
If it is negative, you are beaten before you ever walk on the field.
– Chuck Noll
Dick DeVenzio believed there are two winning responses after a mistake:
1. Flush it and move on.
2. Respond with an immediate burst of energy.
Different approaches.
Same mindset.
The next play is always more important than the last one.
"Never be afraid to fail.
When those opportunities come about, you're not afraid of the moment because you have worked hard enough...you put the confidence you have in everything you do when the light are on because of everything you have done when no one is watching."
Had a great time with Coach Ian and NJ Heat 12U McGinniss this past weekend. Enjoyed working with the pitchers & entire team as they worked their way into the semi-finals. They didn't get the result they wanted but they gave it their best effort. Keep putting in the work!

May 2-3, 2026: NJ Heat 14U Delligatti go 5-1 at The NJ Heat Spring Into Summer Tournament . The team played their best defense of the season to date to support their pitchers. That along with their consistent hitting all weekend and they earned their way into championship game.
Great day of softball spent with the NJ Heat 12U McGinniss today. The teams offense, defense and pitching were on point all weekend going 6-0 en route to the NJ Heat Eye of the Storm 2026 Championship.
Being coachable means you're willing to consider feedback even if you don't like what you hear. It means resisting the urge to make excuses or get defensive when challenged. Getting better is more important than your ego. You'd rather get it right than be right.
Coach K shares a universal truth about failure, resilience, and growth.
"When you're getting your butt kicked, it's called changing a limit."
"So many parents today don't allow their kids to change limits...They're worried about them failing instead of learning. You learn through the experience of failure and success."
Growth requires discomfort. You have to be willing to look bad before you get better.
The problem isn't failure - it's protecting people from it.
"Failure was never a destination."
You can't grow without accepting that there will be challenges and adversity.
