@BudBrownLE @revchadbrooks @erichoke Obvs no one should look @ church/pastors for only what they can GET from them, but I hope we wont dismiss the reality that pple in the Body do need 2 give and receive personal care to/from one other. Some, like pastors, will be more equipped than others 2 give some kinds of care.

@erichoke Love the team approach for bivo pastors. But I hesitate to write off (and maybe I am misunderstanding you) the importance of chaplain-like care in personal crises. Maybe it is not the pastor who gives it. But everyone ought to know who that is, be it one or multiple people.

This woman just made my night. At the #SBC gathering last June when SBC voted to restrict women from serving as pastors, Rachael, her husband, & their 12-year-old son courageously strutted around the convention while she wore this shirt that I designed--just to show support…

I’m glad JS is back on TDS. Not because I find all of TDS humor tasteful, but bc JS feels like an old friend. His incisive critiques and sharp wit helped me divorce Xian faith from the political partisanship I had been taught to pair with it. I’ll be forever grateful for that.

@J03550792 @erichoke She had a “celebration of life” party/service for it, honoring all the things God had done over the years through the ministry. I loved that, and tried to incorporate this idea when I closed the church I was pastoring. It was deeply meaningful.

@J03550792 @erichoke A ministry mentor started and ran a local chapter of a campus ministry for over ten years. Then things shifted. It wasnt growing. Leaders were hard to come by, and she felt the Lord tell her to close it.

@erichoke Exactly. We were an outpost of the kingdom for 6 years. Covid had a huge effect on us. The Lord released me from the assignment and directed to me the close church. There are many outposts in our city. The Church is not dead—we just gather in different configurations on Sundays.
