young footballers still finding ways to train in Gaza: a boy who survived a bombing that killed his entire family, and a son whose father was killed while getting food for his family.
Amnesty International is concerned Canada is backsliding on Indigenous rights
New laws passed last year fast-tracking major projects and expanding resource development have threatened Indigenous peoples' right to self-determination.

Weeks after denying Palestinian Member of @Europarl_EN@RimaHas into Canada, Canadian government denies entry to the Palestine Football Association — despite being full members of @FIFAcom
What does it mean to recognize a state, when you actively deny its people?
UNICEF is outraged by the killing of two drivers of trucks contracted by UNICEF to provide clean water to families in the Gaza Strip.
The victims were killed by Israeli fire in an incident that took place early this morning at the Mansoura water filling point in northern Gaza. UNICEF extends our condolences to the families of the men killed.

UNICEF is deeply saddened by the preventable, tragic death of Ata Mai, 7, who drowned on 27 December during severe flooding in an improvised camp for internally displaced people in Sudaniyeh, northwest of Gaza City.
He is the most recent child in Gaza to die due to the extreme winter conditions and lack of safe shelters. At least five other children have lost their lives in December after being exposed to such harsh conditions.

Richard Falk, 95, the former UN special rapporteur who spent years documenting Israeli abuses in the occupied territories, says he and his wife, legal scholar Hilal Elver, were detained and questioned for more than four hours at Toronto Pearson airport on Thursday, Al Jazeera reported.
A security officer told them, “We’ve detained you both because we’re concerned that you pose a national security threat to Canada,” Falk said. He adds that they were asked about their work on Israel, Gaza and genocide, calling the questioning part of a global push to “punish those who endeavour to tell the truth” about Israel’s war on Gaza.

#Sudan: The UN Human Rights Office is receiving multiple, alarming reports that the Rapid Support Forces are carrying out atrocities, including summary executions, after seizing control of large parts of the besieged city of El Fasher, North Darfur & of Bara city in North Kordofan state in recent days.
We need urgent, concrete action to protect civilians seeking safe passage from El Fasher and Bara in Sudan. States with influence must act to prevent atrocities by RSF and allied fighters; accountability is key.

It’s terrifying what is happening in El Fashir. If you’re not Sudanese please google it, learn about what is happening under RSF siege. Share on your platforms and help us #KeepEyesOnSudan
El Fasher is at breaking point. People are trapped and fighting is advancing further into the city.
Ceasefire now, in El Fasher, in Darfur and throughout Sudan.
All vessels have been intercepted. The volunteers—including Canadian citizens—have been unlawfully taken into Israeli territory against their will. These are war crimes. Canada must denounce the blockade, act to end it, and demand that all Canadians are immediately released.
Everyday is orange shirt day. End genocide everywhere. Stand with Indigenous Peoples. Fuck settler colonialism. Free the people, free the land.
We live on stolen land. Land back. Land back. Land back.

Amnesty strongly condemns Israel’s deliberate killing of journalists in an air strike on a media tent in occupied Gaza City.
Anas al-Sharif and his colleagues have been the eyes and voices of Gaza. Starved and exhausted, they continued to bravely report from the frontlines, despite death threats and immense grief.
No conflict in modern history has seen a higher number of journalists killed than Israel’s genocide against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
There must be an independent and impartial investigation into the killings of Palestinian journalists, with justice and full reparation for their families. States must urgently act to bring an end to Israel’s genocide now.
Israel is slaughtering journalists, incessantly, and the world is just sitting by and watching.
I am so sorry we’ve failed you, Anas. I am so sorry to your wife, to your children.
This is unconscionable.
@MarkJCarney please. DO SOMETHING.
