Last week, the DOJ found 5 state juvenile facilities in Texas in violation of IDEA and the ADA (in addition to the US Constitution). These findings are directly related to the lack of access to the education opportunities that are guaranteed by federal law
All students in every state, regardless of the settings they may be placed in, are legally entitled to education services - but in many states incarcerated young people do not receive even the minimum of what the law requires.
