I wrote about “Good Morning Image” culture in Taiwan with @leemeichun for @kuokuomich and @albertowu’s newsletter “A Broad and Ample Road”. It’s a story of a maligned digital subculture, digital adaptation, and how people care for each other. https://t.co/8Ky4HQe6Uu

https://t.co/BsqDp2LW7j Got to write about Yolbars Khan, his Xinjiang Provincial Government in-exile, and the unsuccessful plan to make Taiwan a central hub of the global Uyghur diaspora. Many thanks to @HistoryToday for running this and to @rhyswgriffiths for such careful edits.
Exciting start to 2024

⚠️ HAPPENING NOW AT NYC'S GRAND CENTRAL STATION: THOUSANDS OF JEWS AND ALLIES HOLD AN EMERGENCY SIT-IN, DEMANDING A CEASEFIRE IN GAZA. WE'RE TAKING OVER THE GRAND CONCOURSE. WE'RE REFUSING TO ALLOW A GENOCIDE BE CARRIED OUT IN OUR NAMES. CEASEFIRE NOW! NEVER AGAIN FOR ANYONE! ⚠️
Me, reading sts/environmental texts: wow, modernity broke our relationship with nature, humans need to stop messing with the natural order
Me, seeing one wasp fly near near: burn it all down and no more plants ever
One thing that's quite hard to ignore is the gender split of people's reactions to disability. The people who swear at me from their cars or bikes - always (100%) men. The people who offer me a seat on the tube when I'm on crutches - nearly always (80%+) women.
Taiwan's #MeToo movement, after 2 full months, finally reaches a legislative milestone today.
This morning TW parliament passed amendments to two laws, 'Gender Equality in Employment Act' and 'Sexual Harassment Prevention Act'.
A few changes that stand out to me.../1
Passed my driving test in Taiwan. I can finally drive, at age 26. Even though I will need to get a new license in California, it is still an achievement. I am now an expert on how to drive around four specific roads in Nangang.

Thank you to the whole team at Taiwanplusnews who gave me a space to work on stories I really cared about.
Today is my last day at @taiwanplusnews before I take some rest time before starting my PhD at UCLA. I had the chance to work with many amazing reporters and I'll miss the team. On the tech & medicine desk, I had the chance to work on very cool stories that I'm really proud of.
