UPDATE: Councillors have rejected plans to demolish the former Central Cinema (1930) in Cambridge, following objections from C20 Society.
Solution? Retain the handsome Art Deco façade and incorporate it into a new office and retail development behind.

UPDATE: Sad news via @andybrammers, that the lovely 1923 Clough Williams-Ellis cottage in Oxford has now been demolished.
It was commissioned by the Canadian author and early 20th century feminist Lily Dougall, and her same-sex partner Sophia Earp.
C20 Society attempted to save the property back in 2022, but our application to spot list was rejected.
We do not have "an abortion problem" in the UK. We have an evidence-based healthcare system working on the principle that women are human beings with agency over their bodies. Away with your American bullshit.

I was kindly invited to visit and document a Victorian house on one of the streets off Stoke Newington Church Street, which retains various original features.
The owner, who recently passed away at the age of 86, had moved into the house with his parents in 1948. There is no central heating, and I was told that the small brick structure in the garden is a WWII bomb shelter. The house also has lovely carpentry and plasterwork.

So much for the planning condition to salvage and store the cast iron glazing screen. The bottom of the frame has just been viciously shattered and skipped.
I asked @GlasgowCC Planning Enforcement to ensure this condition was fully adhered to, but they clearly have not bothered.
The Times splashes on the views of James Dyson who thinks the Budget is really unfair to people like him. That’s a billionaire who backed Brexit then moved his firm to Singapore - and owns more than 30k acres of UK farmland. But you wouldn’t know any of that from this article.
