Helping firms simplify business processes for competitive advantage. Rabid Chicago Bears, Chicago Cubs, and Chicago Black Hawks fan. Balance, baby, balance.
@FCNightingale Someone tell me, given this dose of reality, how the Bears are incompetent but that the city and state government are well run and great stewards of taxpayer money.
@LostHebrew_Dre They want to (mostly) use their own $$ and the state refuses to work with them. Yeah, I know about the infrastructure ask. How’s the state doing across the board? Far worse than the Bears’ success on the field.
@CollinCorbett I must confess, in 2001 I left a game against New Orleans, 5 minutes left in the 4th... I said then I'd never do it again, and I haven't since. Bears pulled it out. But I'd never do that in a Packers game.
@itsmine49 Great post & commentary. Much of the Chicago media covers for the political establishment. Unfortunately this extends to the sports media too.
@Directhim Since the Bears want to have more sources of revenue (parking/hotel/restaurant), I don't see this as anything approaching solid. Arl Pk is a great location, has the room, has roads and a rail line right there. I love the lakefront too but it's not workable in current times.
@North2North@jcarter54 Nowhere in the 2nd guessing are details of what the state failed to deliver legislatively & what the Bears sought. The $ 8B valuation is due to modern TV revenue, not the smallest venue in the league. Sox have a sweatheart deal w/the city/state. Bears left out in the cold.
Kevin Warren made the big10 super wealthy and the top conf surpassing the SEC.
Kevin Warren built the best stadium in the NFL at the time in Minnesota at a great location with a great deal for the franchise and city.
Kevin Warren turned the Bears and their reputation around amongst the leagues circles.
Sorry I’m not taking the side of corrupt Illinois/Chicago politicians or anything they have to say about anything. There’s a reason why huge companies are leaving the city and the state left and right.
@GBraggsJr23 Ben was the departure from previous hires in that he was the or one of the most desired HC candidate, had declined an offer from the Commanders, and also got significant $$ for a first year HC, something the Bears have never previously done. Credit to KW.
@jimiuorio@JBPritzker@Bears People, businesses are leaving the state. As a Bears fan who has seen every down since the Jack Pardee, I’m sick with anger. Best fan base in the NFL. Bears leadership isn’t perfect, but for Illinois to lose them when they wanted to spend their own $ is incompetent.
@ShagNasty_1@Chicago_History Ok I remember that! I think he shoved a security guard in the head too, which annoyed me at the time. I also remember leaving annoyed since he didn’t play Sunday Papers at that show.
@WCGBearsDenDude Business side of the game changed significantly since ‘63. Let George Allen go to the Rams. Failed with Dooley, Gibron. Pardee called SF a “junk heap.” Alienated Jim Finks after Finks built a championship roster. Respect Halas for what he did 1920-1963. After that, not great.
@catturd2 Catturd, been a fan of yours for years. Only time I hear of how crazy she’s become is from commentary by you, Dan, or Shapiro. She is dead to me
@DrEliDavid@HilzFuld The W standard? That’s what you’re going to hold out as an example? Because he did so well in Afghanistan and Iraq? W, who couldn’t sell his way out of a wet paper bag?
@jimiuorio@ChicagoBears True. But let's go to the scorecard here. Legislature waited till the last day of their session to act, then constructed a complex solution that might have been workable, then the house fails to vote on it? $ 4B in private investment, recurring sales tax $$ is lost.
