“If an AI cannot apply an abstract lesson to a new situation, it is not truly reasoning or learning”, new study with further evidence backing up what I have been saying for 25 years.

This tweet from 14 hours ago is on track to get about a million views.
But here’s the thing: the conclusion is true, but the tweet itself is already outdated.
WSJ’s scoop that OpenAI is considering drastic price cuts - basically lighting money on fire to save customers – is further sign of weakness, and indicator of how much trouble OpenAI is in.
And when they go down, they will likely pull Nvidia and Oracle and Coreweave etc down with them.
Things are unraveling fast.
Only in an America can an industry that has collectively lost over half a trillion dollars —at a pace of roughly a million dollars a minute — ask for (and likely get) government subsidies.
The managerial class is being scammed in real time by their own egos. If this was a project introduced by an employee it would’ve been killed in a month but because the executive sect has AI psychosis they’ll tolerate having no realtime spend information. Wallet inspector’d!
Crazy that this is getting barely any coverage. This year’s European Press Prize was just awarded to an investigative report by the Dutch newspaper De Volkskrant. It is entitled “What the Wounds Tell” and in it the journalists Maud Effting and Willem Feenstra document the cases of 114 children in Gaza under the age of 15 who were struck by a single bullet to the head or chest. Almost all of them died or were left severely disabled. They chose to document only the cases of boys and girls under the age of 15 (though often much younger: aged 3, 4 or 7) because these are children who can be immediately identified as such. “A single bullet in these parts of the body is a clear indication that these children were deliberately targeted“, the two journalists write.

Make no mistake: The US government will socialize the immense costs of subprime AI. They will force us all to eat the losses, while the perpetrators of the biggest fraud in history abscond to private islands. Be ready, because a deliberate rug-pull is the plan.

this company burns tens of billions a year and this is only a dodgy way of socializing the losses. It's a sign that OpenAI knows it's cooked, unclear what the stake would be, nor whether said stake would save it when the reaper arrives
Absofuckinglutely called it.
Nationalized stakes are just a bailout by a different name.
Here we are seventeen months later, and the fleece the taxpayer game is on.
CEOs are quietly realizing the AI replacement plan has a problem.
Two problems, actually.
One: the token costs for running AI agents are now exceeding what they were paying the employees they fired.
Two: when the tokens run out, the AI stops. Just stops. No continuity. No workaround. Just a spinning wheel where your workforce used to be.
You fired humans to save money and bought a subscription that bills you into a corner.
The employees you let go knew what to do when things broke.
The AI just invoices you for the outage.
And then there’s the permission problem nobody wants to talk about.
To do its job, the AI agent needs access. Full access. Your systems, your patents, your contracts, your future plans. Everything you spent years building, handed over to a process that has no loyalty, no discretion, and no skin in the game.
You didn’t hire a replacement.
You gave a stranger with no soul the keys to everything you own.
Enjoy.
Psychologist Erich Fromm who defined the term malignant narcissist called people like Andreessen necrophiles—not as a sexual fetish but the obsessive desire to turn the world into a lifeless machine that’s easier for them to understand.
The 2000 dot-com bubble happened because of vendor financing.
Internet companies were flooded with so much investor money that they used it to finance their customers' purchases. As long as the lending continued, the Ponzi expanded.
The bubble popped when people realized total internet infrastructure build was 10x higher than actual demand.
This is exactly what $NVDA has done today.
SpaceX's 200,000 GPU Colossus AI datacenter was only using 11% of its capacity before the Anthropic agreement last week.
This evidence shows real, paying demand is roughly 10% of current online capacity. Exactly like 2000.
One important point from this piece: Anthropic and OpenAI need to make or raise $1.25 trillion in the next four years to meet their compute obligations. It is unclear how this happens, because both lose billions of dollars with no path to profitability.

Keep hearing from people IRL and on here about how scarily good AI's gotten, and then I see study after study showing it's still largely useless garbage.
