It’s Economic Forces Day. I continue my series on confirming price theoretic predictions in unexpected contexts. Today, I discuss competition and panhandlers. https://t.co/F4AWsnQ7W0
Proud to have our colleagues recognized at the CLA awards this spring:
Jon Moen was recognized for his retirement after 36 years of dedication to our department. May we never forget the importance of economic history!
Ennio Piano was recognized for his research achievements.
🚨🚨Thinking about the legal academic market?
Interested in a fellowship in law and AI governance?
Come apply to be AI Risk Governance Fellow at the @UALawSchool , a 1 (to 2) year flexible fellowship, generous compensation, and most importantly: time and mentorship for your work.
Application link below. Spread the word!
This relates to a question I’ve been thinking about: AI may not affect all areas of law in the same way. AI may speed legal change in tort more than in property or contract since in the latter two areas cheaper litigation and more complete contracts can offset each other.
🚨New preprint!
We find evidence of LLMs enabling people to file lawsuits without lawyers (filing "pro se") at historically unprecedented rates in federal courts.👇

It’s Economic Forces Day. Two weeks ago, I was told not to explain drug use with price theory. So, this week I’m doubling down, discussing how labor contracts might influence the types of drugs consumed, relying on work from @henry_thomp & @JustinTCallais https://t.co/WbaOFJ8JA1
I’m thrilled to announce that I will be joining @ufhamilton / @UF as an Assistant Professor this fall.
While I’m very excited, I will truly miss my wonderful colleagues at @UTEP and especially @n_cachanosky, as well as the students we mentor at the Center for Free Enterprise.
Thanks to the generous support of @LawEconCenter, we have Devesh Raval of the FTC visiting this week as part of our L&E speaker series.
Come to the Sip
Sometimes, I write papers about fun ideas that I have, but don’t really care what the audience is or what happens to them. (Such is the benefit of tenure!) If you find that amusing, today is your lucky day because I have posted one such paper. https://t.co/GeyNcUfqOJ
