Let’s reason together whether PPP can be used to supply fresh water from Tana River at Bura to Lamu port & Oil refinery site.

The distance from Bura - Ijara - Lamu is around 150-180km. Bura is 105m above sea level. Lamu is 5m. This allows a manageable slope of 0.81m/km.

The oil refineries will consume around 400 liters per barrel plus water consumption from the Lamu port, Lamu town and surrounding areas.

👍🏼 Project is technically viable
👍🏼 Water demand exists
👍🏼 Private sector has readily available capital.

PPP can used to supply fresh water to Lamu while ensuring affordability to consumers and bankability to investors
