Somatic mutations introduce new phenotypes that are often used in modern plant breeding. Our work now provides insights into somatic mosaicism at the cellular level. We show that in trees, most mutations are specific to cell layers of the meristem.

So, you think you know what potato variety you are working with? Admirable sleuthing by Kirk Amundson in tracking down the elusive origin of a potato clone once thought to be Desiree. The story of Red Polenta: https://t.co/abEMAJ7I9K
The #T2T team is excited to release our first draft of a complete, diploid human genome for the @GenomeInABottle benchmark sample, HG002! Links to the data and assembly can be found here: https://t.co/tYb4oamaVS 🧵

T1K, a new HLA and KIR genotyper developed by Li Song. More data types (exome, WGS, RNA-seq and smart-seq), more genes (HLA class I & II and KIR), comparable or higher accuracy, and perhaps simpler to install and use. HLA typing can be part of the standard analysis.
Excited for the launch of the V12 Arabidopsis annotation effort for the Col-0 genome from T2T assemblies! Thanks to Tanya Berardini @tair_news, Francoise Thibuad-Nissen @ncbi, Korbinian Schneeberger @LabSchneeberger et al...we'll need lots of community help too! #ArabidopsisV12

Today, we’re introducing a new model that eliminates accept/reject decisions.
By publishing every paper with eLife reviews as a Reviewed Preprint, we plan to restore autonomy to authors, ensuring that they will be judged by what, not where, they publish. https://t.co/OAsiOVFStI
We are looking for a new colleague to support our research on meiosis, chromosome biology and plant reproduction @mpipz_cologne @Raph_Mercier Please share by RT!
