If you find it stupid that the ES9 can bounce - think again.
It is a feature - not to show off or entertain the kids but to get out of trouble ✌️

#NIO releases the April Intelligent Driving Assistance Mobility Report:
April, the third month post NIO World Model update (the “steady sales phase”)🤔, still saw MoM growth in intelligent driving penetration metrics and heavy user counts🥳.
Intelligent Safety Assistance System
• Total guard interventions: 358,852
• Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB): 280,855
• Automatic Emergency Steering (AES): 131
• Mis-acceleration Intervention (MAI): 1,916
• Rear-end Collision Mitigation (RCM): 75,950
Intelligent Driving Assistance
• Total usage mileage: 175,604,186 km
3 months after the NIO World Model update, MoM vs March
• Total usage mileage: +14.2%
• Mileage penetration rate: +7.0%
• Time penetration rate: +8.4%
• User count with mileage penetration above 50%: +9.8%
👏👏👏👉🐂#NIO NO.1🏆NIO achieved a milestone today in Shanghai, securing the top spot in the city's passenger vehicle market for the first quarter of 2026, across all body types, energy forms, and price ranges! Achieving this in Shanghai, a hub of economic development and a trendsetter for consumption, is no small feat. Thank you for your trust and support—we will continue to work hard and give back with even better products and services. Let’s keep charging forward!
If this won't float your Nio boat, nothing will, at least for Nio nerds like me.
Nio as an energy company that happens to sell cars.
Nio's growth in "Managed Energy" is scaling much faster than their vehicle sales alone because of the Network Effect.
Here is why their energy management is poised for exponential growth:
1. The "Battery Pool" Compound Effect Unlike Tesla, where a Powerwall stays in one garage,
***Nio’s Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) creates a giant, fungible pool of energy.***
The Math:
If Nio sells 300,000 cars this year, they aren't just adding 300,000 customers; they are adding roughly 22 GWh of storage to their "Virtual Power Plant" (VPP).
The Surplus:
Because they swap batteries, they always have thousands of extra batteries sitting in stations and homes. These are the "perfect" grid assets because they are always plugged in and under Nio's direct control.
2. High-Margin "Software" Revenue
The cost to install the 100,000th home charger (yes, Nio has home chargers that are connected) is high (labor/parts), but the cost to manage the 1,000,000th charger via the cloud is almost zero.
Nio earns a "middleman" fee from the Chinese government and grid operators for every kWh they shift away from peak times.
As the fleet grows, their bargaining power with the State Grid increases, allowing them to negotiate better rates for their entire user base.
3. Turning a "Cost" into a "Profit" Old Model:
Building chargers and swap stations was a massive capital drain (billions in debt).
New Model:
By connecting these to the grid as a VPP, the infrastructure starts paying for itself.
In 2024, Nio’s energy division reportedly achieved "break-even" at the operational level in certain provinces simply by participating in grid frequency regulation.
4. Expansion into Sub-Brands (ONVO and Firefly) Nio is now launching cheaper car brands that also use the same swap stations and home chargers.
This floods the network with even more "battery nodes" without Nio having to build entirely new infrastructure.
More cars = More data = More precise grid balancing = More revenue.
The Real Scale Comparison By 2027,
***Nio is projected to manage over 150 GWh of aggregate battery capacity. To put that in perspective, that is more energy than the entire global stationary storage market held just a few years ago.***
I’ve been digging deeper into why NIO’s Firefly actually stands out from most other compact EVs on the market.
Last week it won the 2026 World Urban Car of the Year award. The jury of 98 international journalists chose it because they saw it as lighter, smarter, safer and more in tune with everyday life in dense cities, not just another small EV, but one that really feels designed for urban chaos.
What impresses me most is how they tackled both cost and long-term sustainability. The Battery-as-a-Service model makes the upfront price far more accessible, while the swap-ready design means you don’t have to worry as much about battery degradation over time. The battery can be centrally managed, swapped or upgraded, which should let the car itself last longer and allows for much more efficient recycling at scale.
And yes, you can of course still charge it normally at home or any public charger. Swapping is simply an optional fast alternative when you need it. It feels like a more thoughtful and circular way to build a genuinely practical urban EV.
