Everybody knows that feeling of déjà vu.

Going through the Blind Melon catalog the other day and got hit with a double dose of it.

For a second I was back on a Saturday morning in the ’70s and ’80s: cartoons, cereal, and Schoolhouse Rock running in between the shows.

I had no idea Blind Melon had covered “Three Is a Magic Number.”

They didn’t mess with it. Didn’t try to make it weird or heavy.

Shannon Hoon just sang it straight. Same melody, same spirit. Like he grew up with those same Saturday mornings too.

That voice was always the thing with Blind Melon.

Raw, a little unhinged, completely committed.

Hoon had a way of making even simple songs feel lived-in.

This cover was one of the last things he recorded before he died in October 1995 at 28.

It ended up on the Schoolhouse Rock! Rocks tribute album the following year.

MTV’s Unplugged series was a real test for the musicians of that era.

Sure, you sound huge wired up to stacks of amps with distortion and effects stacked on top of each other.

But can you do it in a small room, up close to the audience, without all the gear to hide behind?

Stripped naked of the electricity.

Just the songs, the voices, and whatever you could pull out of an acoustic guitar and bongos.

The Stone Temple Pilots walked into that room in 1993 and passed the test.

Scott Weiland sat in a rocking chair like he owned the place.

No theatrics, no wall of sound to lean on.

Just the band and the material.

“Plush,” “Creep,” “Wicked Garden,” and the first public airing of “Big Empty.”

It held up. The songs didn’t need the volume to work.

That was the point of the whole series.

Some bands just got quieter.

The ones that mattered found a different kind of power when everything else was taken away.

“No Rain” was released in 1993 as the second single from Blind Melon’s 1992 self-titled debut album and became the band’s biggest hit. It reached No. 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 and topped both the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks and Album Rock Tracks charts, in the UK it peaked at No. 17. Its success was greatly boosted by the memorable music video, directed by Samuel Bayer, which introduced the world to the “Bee Girl,” played by Heather DeLoach. The character was inspired by the photograph on the band’s debut album cover, which featured the young sister of drummer Glen Graham dressed in a bee costume.

¿Entonces La nave espacial más grande la historia Starship 13, se llevó al espacio 20 satélites de starlink de más de 1 millón de dólares cada uno, solo para probar que la nave era capaz de desplegarlos y ponerlos en órbita y recolectar telemetría, pero además 6 de esos satélites llevavan cámaras especiales, para que una vez desplegados fotografíaran desde afuera a la nave y así ver cómo se comportaba el escudo termico de la misma al reingresar a la atmósfera de la tierra?

Esta foto es real, tomada por las cámaras de los satélites de starlink que se desintegraron al reingresar a la tierra, tal y como lo había planificado SpaceX. 😱
