I feel so incredibly lucky for ~12 years of programming before touching a modern LLM.

I'm grateful for the all-nighters, the 12 hop stack overflow rabbit-holes, double digit rereads of ambiguous docs.

The code golf stack exchange forums, the esoteric programming languages, the ctf challenges, the multi day linux kernel root-causes. The intuition.

Seeing a lot on the timeline today about how coding is and will be solved. I do feel a deep sense of sadness that something I loved (and still love) so much is becoming a lost craft.

I am beginning to lose conviction in the future importance of low-level context engineering.

We are in a strange limbo. Strict control of session context is still extremely important today. The lack of control that comes with continuing to abstract harnesses and multi agent systems has been an uncomfortable adjustment.

I just cannot deny that things are beginning to just work. I'm not sure I see the ceiling anymore.

yesterday i was reminded that the world i experience is very different to what's actually happening for ~99% of the population.

my girlfriend was working on her laptop and showing me her ai use, which is gemini because it's bundled with google business accounts. everyone at her company uses it and mostly the flash models because cheap and fast

my guess is this is most people's experience with ai, that and chatgpt via the iphone app or web

most still have no idea about agents, harnesses, mcp. tech and X is very much its own wee world
