@WHYYNews@BarrishCris There’s language toward the end of this story that mentions “Delaware’s first mall shooting.” What is that language referring to? There was a shooting at the Concord Mall in Wilmington in 2021, so the Christian la shooting isn’t the first in DE. https://t.co/sUJdUnDj7I
So fuck you very much, CDC. As if we don't have enough to deal with from the FDA, physicians, and an entire society that damn near refuses to believe that we're suffering.
We'll now have even more shitty regulations to deal with?
Moreover, given that Black and Brown folks with ADHD are more likely to be incarcerated, more likely to have institutional structures mistake their ADHD for "being difficult," and are thus at greater risk for their lives being upended, this will harm the most vulnerable ADHDers.
All of these are possibilities to consider before engaging in some ham-fisted regulatory policy that will likely hurt more ADHDers than it helps, that will likely deprive many of them of the medicine they need to function.
Or perhaps we have refined our diagnostic criteria for ADHD, have learned enough about its presentation in adults, that we can more accurately point out the features of ADHD in adults before they're overwhelmed by the symptoms.
Or, maybe its the case that some of them were putting off diagnosis, did not have the time or the resources to get diagnosed, and were suddenly beset by several unmanageable ADHD symptoms only to find that telehealth was readily available and easy to access.
Then they were thrust into a global pandemic, forced to adapt to a new living situation, new caring responsibilities, new social or political challenges, and disconnected from the scaffolds that helped manage their ADHD. So they went looking for a diagnosis, or got rediagnosed.
I'm going to put this out there: perhaps we're seeing an uptick in adult ADHD cases because many children with ADHD grew into adults with ADHD whose professions, personal lives, and living spaces provided them with the necessary scaffolds to manage their ADHD.
@cvspharmacy What is the point of you asking me for my insurance info when scheduling a COVID-19 test if you're just going to send the claim for the test to insurance I don't have anymore?
@mckinneykelsey I love this idea, and I also want to give a shout-out to Renaissance Books, a used book store in Milwaukee’s airport! I’d love for more airports to have both of these options. https://t.co/crxcMKafz9
A county attorney in MN who helped spotlight racial profiling in her community, @MaryMoriarty, just took her oath of office by placing her hand on a novel about the late Congressman John Lewis. 👏👏👏
Inspiration for next week's swearing-in ceremony in the #mileg??
I run a newsroom with 3 reporters and if we missed a story this big before the election, I would absolutely expect our readers to ask me why & expect myself to do some reflecting and answering.
Y'all are the New York Times, one of the few papers w/actual resources.
🚨In recent weeks @NIH has made it clear the #LongCovid RECOVER initiative has very limited clinical trial funds — & with those funds are prioritizing useless & harmful therapies like CBT & exercise.
We need to speak up — here's a letter to email NIH🧵https://t.co/Slq8MLrVqL
