For 3.25 years this has been my vantage point every Monday afternoon. As I get ready for one last meeting I’m reminded of how awe inspiring and life changing this job has been. While I’m excited for what comes next it’s truly been an honor to represent D4 and Seattle.
Today’s the first day that you can use your ORCA card on the monorail. So far higher than normal ridership and lots of people using their ORCA cards. Congrats @SeattleMonorail for a successful rollout!
My thoughts go out to the cyclist who was struck by a car on 35th Avenue NE on Thursday night. This incident is a painful reminder of why we need to recommit to building a well-connected network of safe bike infrastructure across the city.
"It is an honor and a privilege to serve as the new representative of D4. Starting on Earth Day today, and for the next 216 days, I will work hard to ensure that we support healthy, safe communities and build a Seattle that is affordable for all." - Councilmember Abel Pacheco
For the record the job broke me twice, and I received probably 1/20 of the vitriol and negativity @D5Juarez or @CMLGonzalez received and the job has never broken them. We need a return to civility, but while we await that I’m proud to have worked alongside such resiliant people.
Great news in these early returns SPS! These two measures will be so important for all our students success. Thanks to all who supported, donated time and money, and voted yes! https://t.co/U2BkoGKWnE
@typewriteralley@RavennaBlog @bonnybecker33 @OraleaW @ravennabryant Last I spoke with Law they believed that when we win, we’d take possession of that sliver of property with the intention of converting it to a park in the future. Though I know there’s tons of interest in housing there, I believe our legal argument was based on it becoming a park
@F_WRLCK @mshannabrooks @seattledot@dongho_chang Too True! Though I haven’t been successful at getting some of our low cost sidewalk options adopted by @seattledot we have made progress on crosswalks and sidewalks by D4 schools and @dongho_chang has a great team that can quickly evaluate your request @mshannabrooks
@sharethecities @patienc40394378 @HDC_SeaKC@SierraClubSEA@tech4housing Overwhelming ruling in our favor. Bit more work to do, but it's within clear boundaries since we know what historic preservation work looks like. Need to check in with city attorneys on Monday to confirm the scope and schedule of additional work, but hoping for an addendum.
It’s official! There’s a lot more work to do but I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished in just three years. ST3, housing and families and ed levies, MHA and short term rental taxes for affordable housing, #fix65th, Seattle Arena and more. https://t.co/Pm0Cu19QMI
@zachlubarsky That project just wrote a $3.8M MHA check that we’ll roll into the office of housings December awards. They had a fully vested 6 story non MHA project they threw out to build this project instead. More units, more MHA $$, right next to light rail. This is a win-win-win.
Saturday! Come canvass with me and @CMLGonzalez to support the city’s education levy. Join us at 1:00 at the Ravenna Community Center for 2 hours of knocking on doors. After the @SeaTimesOpinion endorsement let’s keep the positive momentum going! cc @SCPTSA
