It uses hand gesture recognition to switch between different penguin poses/styles, so you can take a cute pic together with this lil pudgy and save it to your phone or laptop in seconds.

So what basically is FWAir? This mint mechanism is totally different from anything I've experienced before.

Normally I just prepare the ETH, mint when it opens, and the NFT is mine. Pretty straightforward.

Then I tried SAVE ETH by @sterlingcrispin 2 days ago and realized I wasn't really "minting" in the usual sense.

@saveethereum launched through FWAir, a launch mechanism built on Fake World Assets, or FWA. FWA is an onchain randomized NFT acquisition protocol where NFTs are paired with ETH backing and placed into a common pool.

For SAVE ETH, Sterling supplied the 1,000 NFTs while backers like me supplied 0.05 ETH behind each NFT. That 0.05 ETH becomes the backing for that NFT's position once it enters FWA. In total, 145 backers supplied the 50 ETH needed to fully back all 1,000 NFTs.

And this is where things get interesting.

Once the NFT enters FWA, when SAVE ETH NFT get randomly selected from the pool, the buyer has two choices. If they like the NFT, they keep it, and the original SAVE ETH backer receives most of their 0.05 ETH backing back. In my case, several positions settled at 0.0495 ETH, reflecting FWA's current 1% settlement fee. If not getting random selected from the pool to the buyers, the backer can claim the NFT back after 3 days.

So as a backer, your outcome is basically:

0.05 ETH → ETH back + ethereum:0xa0df17b5ac76ababa36e1450e2cbcd18a620c845 rewards

or

0.05 ETH → SAVE ETH NFT + ethereum:0xa0df17b5ac76ababa36e1450e2cbcd18a620c845 rewards

As the NFTs sit inside FWA, backers accrue ethereum:0xa0df17b5ac76ababa36e1450e2cbcd18a620c845 rewards, while the artist earns the fee income generated by the active positions.

I went in thinking I was minting another NFT. Instead, I ended up backing an experimental onchain market while helping preserve a piece of Ethereum's earliest history on Ethereum itself.

Pretty cool way to turn the mechanism itself into part of the artwork :)

The game itself reminds me about Hearthstone. What you will start thinking about is how to win; whether to spend AP on attacks, save Hype for a Signature Move, or maximize each character’s abilities.

I like the game that gives people another way to engage with @saveethereum and its characters beyond simply viewing at @sterlingcrispin 's artwork!

PS: My favourite combo so far is Security Researcher + Dubai Expert for high and continuous burst damage, paired with a healer to keep the team alive until the final rounds :)
