I am very pleased with our latest paper, spearheaded by 3 incredibly talented first authors @chris_cowley14,@LFSoto12 and @SairajSajjath with @ElaineFuchsLab. Here we show that cells can remember past injury for a long time! https://t.co/lL0VYIyNan
Under severe inflammatory conditions such as LPS administration, pancreatic production of GLP-1 functions in an immunological rather than a metabolic role to directly regulate local macrophage accumulation https://t.co/yJlwfgmE7I

Why do GLP-1 drugs fail to cause fat loss in some? A mitochondrial switch ("SLC25A45") controls whether mitochondria burn fat or carbohydrate, and removing it (in mice) makes GLP-1 drugs stop working for fat loss entirely.

we have long known that people who live at altitude die less from cancer. @arcinstitute investigators developed an "altitude-in-a-pill" drug that tunes how your red blood cells bind to oxygen
today, they demonstrated this enables potent anti-tumor activity in cancer models 🫢
Macrophages can engulf targets whole (phagocytosis) or nibble them in small fragments (trogocytosis), a decision controlled by cortical tension in the targets (high tension favors former, low latter)

What an amazing resource! I made a quick screen recording of me using the apps to look at marker genes associated with cell-type annotations and explore cell-type-specific gene expression changes with different cytokine perturbations to demo. Looking forward to using this more!
🗨️ Just published in @NatureBiotech: Our CellWhisperer AI enables chat-based analysis of single-cell sequencing data. You can talk to your cells & figure out the biology without writing any computer code. Paper link and annotated walkthrough in the thread below (1/11)
Very proud and happy to share that our work on neoadjuvant IO in pMMR colon cancers has been published online in @Nature after presentation @myESMO#ESMO25. Preview: https://t.co/KR6mBytwV3 Read on how genomic instability, P53mt and proliferation may aid in predicting responses.
When we look at life up close, like chromosome separation, it's always so jiggly! 😯
This is the stuff our energy flows through.
No wonder that human lives and experiences also are jiggly, unstable, and beautifully unpredictable.
