Remember folks:
Take ownership of the impact that your words and actions have on people. Don't deflect criticism by hiding behind your good intentions. This is good practice for our students and it's good practice for us.
@CallMeMoprah@reggie_friedle Only if you assume @ModestTeacher is a psycho. At worst we're guilty of forgetting some students. Thanks for reminding us.
We should always assume that teachers have good intentions. I'm lucky to have an excess of privilege so that assumption is easier for me.
@PWFang333@tyLanasaurusrex Another thing I really hope is that we can expand our world language offerings to things like Hmong, Somali, Karen, etc., so even more members of our community can affirm their identity and get in touch with their heritage.
@tyLanasaurusrex A3: We have a responsibility to make sure that all students are able to use edtech in a way that not only expands and enhances classroom instruction, but also is directly relevant to their identities and interests. The internet allows us to make the French classroom truly global.
One of the reasons I chose the cities as my college destination was that I wanted to be part of a truly multilingual community. I'm so happy that I'm able to do just that. :) Mahadsanid, Minnesota
@profe__olivia@wardellESL@tyLanasaurusrex I've found that we generally do a terrible job of discussing class with children. They're keenly aware of it but they don't have the words to describe it, and that leads to harm being done.
@profe__olivia @Hannah_7393 @tyLanasaurusrex I personally am having a stressful but exciting time learning about all this new #edtech that's developed since the days of Mavis Beacon. I'm generally extremely excited to have all these new tools at my disposal
@wardellESL@tyLanasaurusrex I really appreciate this. For me what this means is ensuring that all families have stable housing and reliable internet access, which is one of those issues that goes beyond the scope of our job as educators but desperately needs to be done.
@profe__olivia@tyLanasaurusrex@CAST_UDL I'm learning that there's a real art to creating an effective group project. Very lucky to be able to work with people who can do it well.
@profe__olivia@tyLanasaurusrex@CAST_UDL I really like this. I've been noticing that group activities tend to meet a few students' needs while leaving others behind. This kind of differentiation is a great way to ensure that content is more accessible to everyone. #pstpln#ci5307
@tyLanasaurusrex@CAST_UDL A2: Technology provides so many ways to deliver and present content knowledge. If we're familiar with a fair number of tools, we can greatly diversify our instruction and assessment to better serve a wider variety of learners. #ci5307#pstpln
Interesting that Google interprets "activities" as "worksheets" whenever I try to find anything to do with my emerging readers. They don't need more worksheets! Give me a fun game!
