Like so many bell hooks was my introduction to a tangible& rigorous feminist politic. But what I return 2 in this moment, as we navigate CRT attacks, is her claim “the classroom remains the most radical space of possibility” it’s why they target it & why we must hold this space.
@jennysantilli1 I think you are right - it looks like a company that sells TEFL courses trying to get more people to buy their product and not being subtle about exploitative elitism / racism.
@tyLanasaurusrex A5: I’ll prioritize a district where BIPOC and LGBTQ+ staff are hired AND retained, there’s a sense of community, & every individual student’s identities are valued. If #edtech is used in a way that supports this and teaches kids new skills, even better! #pstpln#ci5307
@Hannah_7393 @tyLanasaurusrex Yes!! It's such a good opportunity to promote collaboration. I'm excited to get more comfortable with #edtech so I can more effectively teach students how to use tech (and learn with them!)
@carolyn_nue@tyLanasaurusrex@irvspanish Really good examples! I'm guilty of assuming that kids grew up with tech and know how to navigate it, and need to check myself more frequently on assuming that students know how to do things. I've had a few hiccups with that with online learning and password logins!
@wardellESL@tyLanasaurusrex Appreciate that you brought up SES. I think classism in schools is often overlooked, despite the fact that it's everywhere.
@hilton_watson@tyLanasaurusrex@CAST_UDL Totally agree. It's hard because group work can be so cool, but it can be challenging to make sure that the activity is meeting each student's needs.
@tyLanasaurusrex@EThorntonGHS Example: providing every student with a chromebook to take home doesn't mean that they each know how to use it, that they have wifi at home, that they can navigate the chromebook setup that is most likely in English, etc.
@tyLanasaurusrex A3: Today @EThorntonGHS tweeted that equality is giving everyone a pair of shoes, and equity is making sure they're the right size. Similarly with tech, we need to be mindful of how what we ask students to do with tech works for them as individuals. #ci5307#PSTPLN
