In light of @ACCinTouch recent leadership decision, I just want to reiterate my appreciation for @ACPIMPhysicians who seem to mostly have physicians’ best interest at heart.

I had the great honor of meeting with President @RyanMire1 last week. He was a couple minutes late to our meeting because HE WAS SEEING PATIENTS AND TEACHING NEW INTERNS.

THAT’s who I want representing me in a large professional organization. Kudos on a great run and continuing your oath to take care of your patients and community, while also leading one of the largest medical societies is in the world.

Notice anything about credentials below? Important to have true advocacy from those who are in the fight every day. I hope we continue to support and elevate great PHYSICIAN leaders everywhere!

It never fails to annoy me that for the most part, being a desi atheist/agnostic/so called liberal bloke while belonging to the baby boomer generation or Gen X is synonymous with being a tharki and having the most cringetastic sense of humour!

Lot of thoughts on this one…

I’ve worked with some absolutely amazing nurses in my life, they are truly the lifeblood of healthcare and keep everything moving.

But the good ones I know all beleive this is bonkers.

The best analogies (some are painfully real…) I’ve seen:
- This is like flight attendant leading the Pilots association
- Paralegal chairing the American Bar Association
- Pet groomer leading American Veterinary Association
- Health insurance executive with zero patient interaction experience in their life becoming CEO of a primary care org (sigh 😔)
- CVS cashier as president of American Pharmacists Association
- Brick layer leading the American Institute of Architecture

These are all (well, most) ESSENTIAL individuals in the ecosystem, I’m not taking away at all from their impact in society.

But for an RN to LEAD an organization of some of the most highly trained physicians on earth is just so…. emblematic of how low we’ve allowed our profession to go.

If @ACPIMPhysicians ever elected a non-internal medicine trained physician as President, I would immediately cancel my membership and raise hell.

Glad to see so many cardiologists pushing back here. We need to take back the heart and soul of our profession!
