Pitch winning streak for the Hipp lab! During the Joint Research Institutes Symposium, our PhD student Danara brought home the best-pitch award for the MoHAD Institute.
Our PhD student Danara won the Imaging Competition of the UMCG Imaging Facility. We would love to share the winning image with all of you as well! What do you think?
SESSION IN PROGRESS! We begin Day 2 #EMBOCCMB25 as @hipp_Lab unpacks the complexity of protein aggregation, commenting on the differential quality control mechanisms depending on the proteins subcellular localization. @EMBO@ccmb_csir
A few weeks ago, Parisa presented her work at the CAG Triplet Repeat Disorders Conference in Lucca Italy! She was joined by a few other members of the CureQ consortium as well.
We had a great time attending the Dutch Chaperone Day in Utrecht this year! Always nice to have this yearly meeting where we can meet everyone working on Chaperones in the Netherlands.
In this great collaboration with researchers from the UMCG and UOL we were able to show multimerization of PRG5 specifically on the plasma membrane in both neurons and non-neuronal cells! Both Mark and Danara contributed to the work.

We are very excited to announce that Mark Hipp is part of a group of researchers that has been awarded one of the grants of the prestigious Gravitation programme. The consortium will focus on studying the network that makes proteins to function in a cell. https://t.co/Vs64SHk9YT
Researchers from Amsterdam UMC, LUMC, PMC and UMCG working on new therapeutic strategies for HD and SCA1/3 had a great meeting yesterday hosted in Groningen to discuss their projects and plans for the CureQ consortium to which both Mark and Parisa contribute with their project.
Last week during the BCN Winter Meeting together with co-author Hong Yan, our PhD student Danara Vonk got granted one of the BCN Seed Grants. This grant will help to strengthen our collaboration with the Schmidt lab from the Department of Molecular Pharmacology at the RUG.
Last weekend, the Hipp lab contributed together with @UMCG_ERIBA to Zpannend Zernike, where the University of Groningen organizes lots of activities to teach children more about science. We taught the kids to isolate DNA from fruit and they loved it!
