'Buying more social care beds to get patients out of hospital more quickly is only part of the answer.
The other vital part is to invest in the workforce for community rehabilitation services, many of which have borne the brunt of years of de-prioritising and funding cuts. Community healthcare gives people their lives back, enables them to fully recover, manage their symptoms and live independently. They also greatly improve the flow through hospital and prevent people from needing to be readmitted further down the line.
Rehabilitation is the lifeblood that runs through all areas of the NHS and when it is properly funded and resourced it speeds up patient discharge and boosts patient outcomes.
It is crucial for the next government to recognise just how essential physiotherapy and rehab teams in hospitals and in the community are to ensure a healthy future for the NHS. We know that if these services are given sufficient staff, space and equipment, huge change is possible.'
@SHazzard, CSP assistant director of strategic communications and Community Rehab Alliance Co-Chair in response to Labour proposals by Wes Streeting.

#NPM2024
It’s National Physiotherapy Month in Canada. Older adults may have one or more conditions that can be helped by physiotherapy. Timely access to physiotherapy is vital for older adults to support healthy aging. #NPM2024
Happy National Physiotherapy Month (NPM) to all of the physiotherapists, physiotherapist assistants, physiotherapy students and residents who make up the physiotherapy community across Ontario. You help keep Ontario healthy.
