@VaxHuntersCan According to this there are still appointments TWENTY MINS from now for first responders, those that work with children, grocery workers etc. https://t.co/6YpypbzA7m
Our #vsb39 options for backup schools are one that is an 18 min walk away or one that is a 63 min walk away. And we only get to confirm our preference. No guarantee.
@AnthonyFloyd@VanDPAC@janetrfraser@pattibacchus Same situation here. Denied everywhere. Also leading us to have to plan child and after school care in mere weeks when we all know anything kid related in Vancouver has wait lists of years.
We’ve been denied kindergarten at all 5 cross boundary (ie the 5 closest schools next to our catchment that we’re still possibly accepting), so what’s next? #vsb39
@tanyaofmars my 5 year old daughter would love one! Her Nana is the Outreach Coordinator and amateur astronomer with the Royal Astronomical Society In Canada, specifically Kelowna BC. We are big into the solar system and finding ways to represent it.
@VSB39 Can you explain what “enrolling educational space means” and if that is intended for this September or next? We are still so far on the waitlist we are unlikely to get in, but one additional classroom would be a big help and get us over the edge!
Metro Vancouver, if we want to avoid having school lotteries like this again next year, and the year after that, and the year after that, then please help keep the conversation going, especially with elected decision-makers and the media.
It’s the only way things will change.
@vikkhanna@school_olympic @andrea_coutu Not suggesting they do it alone. Just trying to figure out with our own work commutes can we still keep up the healthy climate friendly choice or walking or are we going to default to the car. :(
Wondering how much a portable costs at our catchment school versus the amount twenty parents are going to be paying in extra gas/transit/insurance costs to get to a further location. Maybe we can all pitch in? #vsb39
