Here is my great grandfather, Archie White, VC MC.
Despite dysentry, injury in Gallipoli, fighting in @YORKS_REGT earning a VC & MC in #WW1, he survived, served in the Army Education Corps in #WW2 and lived to 80.
What a hero.

I can’t believe I’ve only just found out that the bird-related UK road crossing names all stand for things:

Pelican: “PEdestrian LIght CONtrolled”
Puffin: “Pedestrian User-Friendly Intelligent”
Toucan: Because bicycles and pedestrians can cross together (two can cross)

I thought they just named them after birds because birds are nice 🤦‍♂️

Fire, Fire, Fire!
@FOST is putting the crew through their paces, training with a major machinery space fire exercise, casualty handling and damage control briefs. This will ensure we are ready for any emergency on board. @RoyalNavy

We have been busy training over the last few weeks: fire fighting and damage control, gunnery and seamanship skills were all put to the test! We are now ready to welcome @FOST onboard for assurance and training as the final stage of our return to operations #royalnavy

1. So during my time I have managed maintenance packages on RN warships, trials packages, done deployments and arranged my Department, WE, to be ready to go at short notice on Ops.

Exactly 80 years after Japanese forces in Singapore surrendered to Lord Mountbatten, HMS SPEY supported a memorial service attended by Commonwealth and Japanese alike.

We commemorated the historical step towards peace and remembered those who did not live long enough to see it.

5 years ago HMS SPEY sailed from Falmouth on her inaugural journey to the Indo-Asian Pacific. Now, 182k nautical miles and 25 countries later She has entered into dry dock in Singapore for her 5 Annual maintenance. Cheers to another 5 years of faithful service on the other side!
