I'm a newly minted #GrantWriter & I think I just landed my first #GrantWriting contract w a disability advocacy & empowerment org!
I'm just massively excited and have been up since 3am with no one to talk to. 👀
@dianakelly This is a good reminder. I always forget how slow January can get. 🤦🏻♀️
As for what I'm doing in the slow season, I'm revamping my websites, writing for myself, sending pitches that I'll follow up on closer to February, and I'm starting a grant writing class tomorrow. ❤️
@TrulyJuxta As an #ActuallyAutistic person, I can understand this. I sometimes do or say things that make other people uncomfortable, and while I think social standards are good to know, I don't like it when people constantly police my behavior and/or speech.
@TrulyJuxta You don't seem too bad! I mostly don't want people who bring others down to stoke their ego; who are jerks for absolutely no reason; who hate other people for reasons like race, religion, gender identity, or anything else really; etc.
I've never told somebody with a debilitating, chronic, health condition, that is trying to destroy the person's life on a daily basis
that their war is "normal"
@TrulyJuxta Makes sense. I just got this out of my local #library and want to try to use it to jump start my reading. It's a topic that I'm interested in, at least. 🤷🏻♀️
This is 100% happening to me when it comes to reading for pleasure. I can edit fine, but when it comes to my #tbr pile... I'm making absolutely no progress. 🤦🏻♀️
If any of my #ActuallyAutistic comrades used to read LOTS of books every year and LOVED it, but can no longer do it, know that it isn’t your fault.
This is one of the side effects of autistic burnout. You’re not alone.
Friendly reminder to all my fellow disabled and/or chronically ill friends:
You’re not behind in life.
You can’t be behind others when we’re all on different paths.
I’m sorry that your life plans haven’t gone according to plan.
I hope something even better comes from it all.
I don’t think we talk enough about the psychological toll it takes on disabled people to spend your entire life navigating the societal assumption—sometimes made explicit, sometimes only implied—that you’re, at the end of the day, a burden.
