Good morning.

After a month of increasing usage, overnight borrowing (need for dollars) exploded on Friday to $50 billion, mostly in the afternoon session and not posted by the Fed but captured on Bloomberg. This need caused SOFR (borrowing rate) to explode to 35 bps above the Fed Funds rate. While some increased activity is expected at month end, these are serious red flags that the financial system is on the verge of locking up unless the Fed adds liquidity soon.
