@mermaidswamp hahaha sorry - we’ll blame it on my british self not understanding the age of a middle schooler.
probs 2028 - too expensive otherwise sadly!
i think a lot of what is missing in this never-ending argument between americans and brits around the brits not being able to handle the heat is: most of us are renting or we are not able to change our houses to accommodate improved insulation and aircon
@lovesupriyag your US city is not the same climate as london. simply none are similar - it is the inconsistent nature of the heat that is the issue - i am lucky i can afford a unit, but its very expensive to deal with a few days every year. plus my windows don’t really work well with ac
@viibraider@skinthent i’d hope, but it’s hard for people to grasp long term things like this that (normally) only happen once a year before it becomes a rush. speaking for myself there too
@viibraider@skinthent that, sadly, will not happen without governmental policy or mass tenant organisation. both of which likely won’t happen in my lifetime i think.
also doesn’t help AC units are sold out in the uk (we tried to make a decent one to go in our window but no luck)
this shit should cause nation wide protests. it rained for about 2 months straight a few months ago, but private companies have no interest in avoiding water restrictions
pisses me off that this slimey grifter is so easily rattled and not a single one of our so called “journalists” attempt to get what is probably the easiest views you can. until this interview of course.
because they want to agree an amount before putting the form together - they really should have made that not possible given that they have a means to contact us and essentially pressure us into an agreed amount before even seeing the forms
meant to provide a form with the proposed rent increase. instead they’re whatsapping us through the property manager to try and increase it by 10%. when we push back they’re flipping out saying they’re actually being nice. not sure that’s better than what the previous process was
