Did a fast (for me) 5k at lunchtime and I’m still buzzing about it. Way too early to say strength training and yoga is paying off but I feel I’m on the right track!
My race got cancelled which is just as well, as I had decided not to risk running on icy hills anyway! Managed a frosty 5k yesterday morning while I was in Newcastle. Today? It’s time to stay cosy and drink coffee 😌
I’m really dialling the running down for the first half of 2025. I’ve done some thinking and I’ve decided I’m not doing Manchester marathon. My body has been (fairly) cross with me, and I need to prioritise strength training and flexibility over just hobbling my way round.
I do have a race on Sunday! I wanna give it a whirl, but it’s all good if I end up only doing a bit of it. It’s quite liberating lifting the pressure off myself 🤠
I like the sound of going back to basics and having fun with shorter distances. It’s easy for me to get caught up in comparisons/FOMO but if I carry on the way I am, I’d probably end up fully injuring myself.
Visiting my mum in Newcastle this weekend. Got out for 5 miles today and the weather was very intense. Nearly got swept off my feet a few times and the sleet hurt my face. Weather app said ‘feels like -8’ which explained the numb fingers 🥶
Cancelled my gym membership. The price kept going up and up so it became untenable to pay so much. Luckily, there’s plenty on YouTube that’ll keep me covered for strength training and yoga. I’ll miss the steam room though :-(
@gracepanoff Totally, my wage isn’t stretching as far as it should! There is a more budget friendly one close by so I could try that in a few months if I really miss having access to a gym
