Founder/CEO of DeepSeek on buying 10K GPUs:
“It is like buying a piano,” Liang told Chinese tech publication 36Kr in 2023, discussing the chip purchases. “Firstly, it’s because you can afford it. And secondly, it’s because you have a group of people who are eager to play music on it.”

Breaking: @OpenAI has announced @sama is departing the company.
Chief technology officer Mira Murati has been appointed interim CEO to lead OpenAI with a search process underway to identify a permanent successor.
Altman’s departure follows a “deliberative review process by the board”, which concluded that OpenAI’s founder was not consistently candid in his communications with the board. Which, in turn, hindered its ability to exercise its responsibilities.
In a statement released by OpenAI, the reason for Altman’s departure is the board no longer has “confidence in his ability to continue leading OpenAI.”
'A Long Time Ago in a Galaxy Far, Far Away', as warriors of the light and dark side of the force clashed, their lightsabers dueling in a fit of rage, faint whispers of Sanskrit verses could be heard in the background. Intriguing?
In a pivotal scene in Star Wars Ep I – The Phantom Menace, we see our heros come up against a formidable adversary trained in the dark side of the force, Darth Maul. Master Jedi and apprentice Qui Gon and Obi-Wan bring out their lightsabers to go against Maul.
As their lightsabres clashed, splashing different shades of color all over our screens, a background music of an operatic nature plays on, consistent with the Star Wars’s theme of grandeur. If you listen closely, however, the lyrics may sound familiar.
You will hear words like matha(head) or yudhha(war) in the verses sung at a furious pace to keep up with the scene. The composition, Duel of the Fates, is one of John Williams’s finest creations and is definitely a fan favorite. But why the Sanskrit verses?
The story takes us back to 1977 when director George Lucas was looking for a composer for his upcoming sci-fi epic film Star Wars. It was then that fellow director Steven Spielberg recommended John Williams.
Williams by then had worked with Spielberg on The Sugarland Express, and Jaws and was already touted to be the next big film music composer.
For the original film Star Wars: A New Hope, Williams did something unique.
A symphony score that was grand and magnificent and reminded everyone of the golden age of Hollywood composers. Willams would continue to deliver for George in the next two parts of the trilogy, winning multiple awards and Oscar nominations.
However, it was probably in 1984 while working on the music of Indiana Jones and Temple of Doom that Williams came in close contact with Sanskrit. The film featured the indomitable Amrish Puri as the main antagonist.
In 1999, George started working on the Star Wars prequel trilogy and Williams was asked to do the score for all three. For the climactic duel in Episode 1, Williams thought of something unique.
Williams chose some 35 lines from a loosely translated English version of a 14th-century Welsh poem for the lyrics called Cad Goddeu, or Battle of the Trees.
It read something like this.
Under the tongue root
a fight most dread,
and another raging
behind in the head…
Now these were not rhyming as Williams wanted. So he translated them into various languages and finally chose Sanskrit as he supposedly liked the quality of vowels. But this was not a perfect translation; it was rather a pseudo-translation.
It was fine-tuned, words were rearranged, pronunciation was changed, and the Duel of Fates was born. It went on to define the music of the trilogy; the abridged versions were used in Episodes II and III during some pivotal scenes.
Williams once again proved music and language don’t care about boundaries. Sanskrit is still a popular theme in Hollywood. In 2004, a sci-fi series ‘Battlestar Galactica’ featured the Gayatri Mantra as its opening theme song.
Safe to say we have not seen the last of this musical crossover.

Most successful IT and tech companies in India are registered and based out of the US, Dubai or Singapore. It is important that local administration simplifies the process to set up and run local businesses.
Love Bangalore / India, but I have learnt more in last 3 days in Bay Area than I could in a month back home.
Spent 2 months just to try to register a co in India & it’s still not done.
Problem - solution feedback loop from potential customers, Investors & even fellow founders is at a different level.
Time may be coming for me to move back to the US. And I say this with a heavy heart.
