Today, we will gather for a special meeting about what’s next in the movement to reduce gun violence in Tennessee.
If you’re in Nashville please join us at First Baptist Church - Capitol Hill at 3pm CST. https://t.co/d05fCWhpjh
The forum will be streamed on my FB Live!
Easter is about listening to women preach resurrection.
Easter is about switching the sword for the cross.
Easter is about rejecting the ways of empire and rising up for the oppressed.
Easter is about paradise for the humble and power for the lowly.
Easter is hope.
House republicans just passed a law to make schools into fortresses, instead of addressing the root causes of gun violence to make our schools and communities safer. This is why we must always advocate to end gun violence and protect our communities.
The house is voting on school safety bills: SRO’s, mental health — but Dem reps (Jones, Johnson, Pearson, Mitchell and more) are rising to say they fail to address the root cause, which is what so many in the halls are saying.
It’s nice on the floor when the gallery is watching, I have never seen the GOP allow this level of debate. Wish it were this way when so many aren’t watching.
We’re told Sexton & the THP are apparently not letting any more people into the Capitol and have closed the Cordell Hull Building entrance to the public — which is the public building where they will all retreat after the expulsion votes. #TennesseeThree
As session creeps towards the expulsion votes, outside the doors the “insurrectionists”🙄continue to chant.
This is the EXACT same scene as the previous protest that was called “maybe worse then January 6th” 🤔
Reminder: If the expulsion of the Tennessee Three was actually justified, Speaker Sexton wouldn’t have lied about an entirely peaceful protest and called it an “insurrection maybe worse than January 6th” to try to justify it. @brotherjones_@VoteGloriaJ@Justinjpearson
Ahead of the Tennessee expulsion vote today, you can catch up here on what happened last Thursday that led to this. Jones, Pearson and Johnson did breach rules. The protest was peaceful. There was no threat or danger on the floor (I was there)

Follow live updates from my @Tennessean teammates and I as we cover protests at the Tennessee statehouse over gun reform and a vote on whether to oust three Democratic reps. The reps protested on the House floor in the wake of the Covenant School shooting.
