The Nazis were not the only ones who operated concentration camps. Britain used them in South Africa and Kenya.

In Kenya, the camps were sites for random executions and Interrogation involved stuffing detainees mouth with mud and stomping their throats till they passed out.
Before the British fought the Nazis, they used history's first concentration camps to commit genocide during the Boer War.

These camps were built by British soldiers amid the Boer War, during which the British rounded up Dutch Boers and native South Africans and locked them into cramped camps where they died off by the thousands.

This is where the word "concentration camp" was first used – in British camps that systematically imprisoned more than 115,000 people and saw at least 25,000 of them killed off. In fact, more men, women, and children died of starvation and disease in these camps than did men actually fighting in the Second Boer War of 1899 to 1902, a territorial struggle in South Africa . . And yet the first genocide of the 20th century started with good intentions. The camps were originally set up as refugee camps, meant to house the families that had been forced to abandon their homes to escape the ravages of war."

And then there was Kenya...

The Kikuyu genocide took place in the 1950s, a decade after the Holocaust and the West’s promise to never again allow the destruction of entire peoples, and it saw virtually the entire population of 1.5 million Kikuyu locked up in concentration camps, where they were starved, beaten, and tortured to death by the tens of thousands.

⚠️ Why centralized government IDs are the end of privacy ⚠️

I have been designing and building software systems for two decades.

In your database you normally have a User with a PRIMARY ID. And then you have other database collections like Event or Course. When the User attends an Event or studies in a Course, that relationship is saved with the users primary ID being used as foreign key in a new Event or Course database entry, referencing this very User so he can be shown and processed as event attendee or course participant, forever in the future until deletion.

If every human in a society now eventually gets his PRIMARY ID from the state (= centralized government ID), and uses that to be verified for age requirements when visiting a porn site, applies for a job at a company, buys lunch in a restaurant, pays for a club entry, and the system design (= CURRENT ruling government) is requiring him to VERIFY HIS IDENTIY with his centralized PRIMARY ID for all such actions, the state and corporations will create database entries FOR SURE, and even if it is just for logging that activity, to "grant access".

Now, how easy it is to create action profiles of your users (your citizens) with that? How easy is it to apply political or social mandates onto your users (= your citizens) ("you cannot enter that club before 10pm", "you are not allowed to travel to a foreign country because we are in a lockdown", "you have purchased already too much meat this week, please buy vegetables instead"...) with such a handy PRIMARY KEY ID?

How dangerous to exploits from hackers, foreign governments, data hungry commercial entities does your centralized "action logging database" become?

Such a system design is ripe for a SOCIAL CREDIT SCORE as a next step! 😵‍💫🤢

My reserve order of preference

1. No reserve, because if you want decentralization to fail you’d put the government in charge of it.

2. Or states run their own reserve as a hedge against the fed making a mistake

3. Or if there has to be a reserve, it’s based on objectively measurable requirements. I don’t care what they are, they can even be constructed such that only bitcoin satisfies them right now, they just must be objectively measurable and rationally justified. If there is a target to beat, the solana ecosystem will get it done.
