@JozzaLa@TheCinesthetic Yes that’s the theory but it’s still bad storytelling. They didn’t even plant the seed by having Skyler ask him about the book in a prior episode. It’s a problem that would get hammered if you wrote a script like this in a college screenwriting class.
@MZavagno11 What they should do is keep them both, bring Allen off the bench, but still play him 28 mins. You cannot enter the season with one playable big. Their five guard lineups are awful.
@asxcry_@TimmyB1957@MikeConti929 It was very clearly not a challenge, and that language couldn’t be more vague. A player’s safety is endangered anytime there’s physical contact. He was fine. No injury. Some stepping on your foot does not seriously endanger you.
@Andrunas45 It’s insane. Cade is leading MLB in saves but is not a closer because he’s not perfect? Clase spoiled us. It’s not normal to never give up a run, and it didn’t extend to the playoffs anyway.
@finkn23 There is no limit to what people will complain about. Has a fan base ever before in history clamored for a closer when their guy is literally leading the MLB in saves?
@Jacob_Corrigan Get out of here. One of the best execs in baseball. No team in MLB has won more than the Guards with less money. Their first round picks over four straight years were Gavin, Ralphy, DeLauter, Bazz. They have multiple impact rookies and farm is still stacked.
@GageEHC The point is fine if you’re talking about midlevel prospects, most of whom will never move the needle. But the Guards cannot trade their blue chippers like Ralphy and Genoa. It’s pretty much their only shot at having elite players who vastly outperform their contract price.
@AndrewZelman Crazy that less than a year ago they were offered major assets for him at the deadline and declined to move him. Now even if he wants to sign here long term, I don’t know how the Guards could do it. He’s basically Myles Straw, arguably worse.
I really like the Browns getting Verse compared to a first-round pick.
Rising young star at fixed and reasonable cost at a premium position; so much more valuable than a first-round pick (which they also got).
Factoring in contract, Verse is one of highest value players in NFL.
@FTthings@Clevta It’s a fair point but more complicated than that. Cap space rolls over. It can be used in future years. How you spend or save this year continues to have an impact. I also think they’ll be competitive within the three-year window when he’s cost controlled.
@finkn23 It’s okay to hate the trade, but it’s objectively false to say they got fleeced. Verse and the picks is a heavy price. Very hard to find an example of an edge like Verse being traded two years into his career. It does not happen.
I initially thought Verse alone was worth a mid 1 considering age, contract and position but I am probably light. He's likely worth a 1+ another good pick. He made the pro bowl in each of his first two seasons and ROY. Unless someone can correct me I cant find another instance in modern NFL history where a defensive player who made a pro bowl was traded after his 2nd season. Mack after year 4 is the only pass rusher who comes close
