JUST FILED a lawsuit on behalf of my client Jonathan Howard, a former officer in the Florida State Guard, who discovered massive fraud, waste, and abuse of state funds within the leadership of the Florida State Guard. After learning of the fraud, Howard made a whistle blower complaint, bringing public attention to the fraud, waste, and abuse, while awaiting state authorities to intervene. In response, the leadership of the Florida State Guard unlawfully and punitively demoted Howard in an effort to silence him. Howard now files this complaint for First Amendment Retaliation and for violation of Florida’s Public Whistleblower Act, § 112.3187, Fla. Stat.
