Only thing offensive about this photo is the Cheetah copter. Uncles/incels/wannabes should be furious over how the Army has failed to replace Cheetahs for 20 yrs!
Last month, a Maj Gen had a narrow escape in a crash.
But no, they'll fulminate over young love in a new world.
As per the press release, she 'died of sadness' from her husband's death. I thought that's a euphemism for suicide but turns out it is a real medical thing. Grief so strong that it weakens the heart muscles, and you literally die from a broken heart.
It is just infinitely sad and I cannot imagine the pain she must have gone through. But I cannot help but see a glimmer of beauty in such a passing. Love can persevere so strong that it stays with you until you die. May she rest in peace. May she be united with her husband.
We are all relieved and grateful that Dawa Sherpa has miraculously survived and returned alive after days alone on Mt Everest. But while we celebrate the fact that he is alive, many serious questions remain unanswered.
Why was Dawa Sherpa left behind high on the mountain in the first place? When he failed to arrive at the lower camps, why was there no immediate communication with him? How could a climber remain missing for days on Everest without an urgent rescue initiative being launched? Why was human life seemingly not treated as the highest priority?
Another difficult question must also be asked. If the person left behind on Everest had been a foreign client rather than a Sherpa, would the same thing have happened? Would days have passed without a major search effort? Or would helicopters, rescue teams, and international attention have been mobilized immediately? It is an uncomfortable question, but one that deserves an honest answer.
This case also raises broader concerns about accountability and the growing sense of lawlessness on the world's highest mountain. Where is the Government of Nepal when such incidents occur? Everest operates under permits, regulations, and government oversight. If a climber can be left behind and remain missing for days without apparent accountability, what does that say about the system meant to protect human life? Who is responsible for enforcing the rules, investigating negligence, and ensuring that companies put safety before business?
Dawa Sherpa survived. That is the good news. But survival should not be used as an excuse to avoid questions. The mountaineering community, the public, and Dawa himself deserve answers.
Arrest that officer who came to do the fire inspection and went quietly after taking a bribe. Arrest that corrupt municipal official who gave the NOC to the building.
But that's not going to happen. This guy Bajaj will be in the news for a few days, and everyone will forget about the actual issue.
Corruption has become the national character of India.
The most tragic part about the Delhi fire tragedy is that if someone from the hotel had ordered water from Blinkit it would have reached earlier than the Fire Brigade.

As of 4th June 2026
Headphones, headsets, earphones, laptops, and tablets may be carried within personal bags but should not be used anywhere within the Visa Application Centre and must be put away when you are dealing with the Visa Application Centre staff.
This is updated for #Germany #Finland #Iceland Hopefully for all countries but do check.
No more spending Rs. 500 etc just to store laptop which was an absurd rule anyways. Much needed step as so many travellers visit VFS for document submission while going/coming from work/ college etc and would have a laptop along. + just did'nt make sense for them to not allow laptop and charge for the same to be stored outside.
I am sick of reading about these preventable tragedies in India. The Goa night club fire was the same. No business should be allowed to operate unless it has smoke alarms, fire extinguishers and a proper escape route. All businesses should be inspected now and heavily fined or shut down if they are not compliant.
The fire station is only 650mtrs from the hotel.
You can literally see the hotel from the main road so it being unreachable is out of question.
Fire brigade took more than 20mins to reach the place and start rescue operations.
2 lakhs to be paid as compensation to the kin of deceased. Yes 2 Lakhs.. You heard it right.
The difference between a developed western country and India is, the food delivery might take an hour to reach but the fire brigade and ambulance reach in 5 minutes.
21 killed in #MalviyaNagarFireTragedy | NOT AN ACCIDENT, A SYSTEMIC COLLAPSE! A MAN-MADE TRAGEDY!
- Permitted for 6 rooms, but 25 were built.
- Barely any windows, leaving guests with zero escape routes.
- ONLY ONE EXIT in the entire building and it was locked.
How do these hotels operate right under authorities' noses? How many more illegal death traps are operating in our cities?

The over sexualization of breasts has a medical cost.
As a cancer doctor, I’ve seen women wait months before telling anyone about a breast lump because they were embarrassed, afraid, or worried about what people would think.
In India, far too many breast cancers still present at advanced stages. Not because the disease is inherently aggressive, but because stigma delays the first conversation.
Early breast cancer is often curable.
Silence and stigma is the real killer.

The hotel Flourish Stays in Malaviya Nagar, where the fire incident has killed 21 people so far, had permission for only 6 rooms but was operating 25. It didn't have fire safety clearance either.
No surprises. I'm sure 90% of hotels operate like this. MCD knows, they come for inspections, take their cut, and leave. It's only after such tragedies that these irregularities make the news.
Will the police arrest any MCD officials responsible for ensuring that hotels operate as per the norms? No way. They'll probably arrest the hotel's restaurant cooking staff because the fire apparently started in the kitchen.
Major exclusion. No woman in the Karnataka Cabinet. How can a party like the Congress not find a single woman in a state like Karnataka to be a minister!
This is Rahul Singh, IAS.
Yesterday, he was transferred and removed as CBSE chairperson, Sanghis started calling it big action and big punishment.
Today, he has been appointed as Agricultural secretary.
Joke is on us, they continue to enjoy one way or the other.
