An interesting personal experience. For almost a decade or more I've been frustrated that Google maps and later Tesla FSD would always take an exit to my house which I almost never take at late night. So I had to watch out when I'm near the exit, cancel FSD and again redo FSD after I pass that exit. After hearing a colleague say I can try grok (I had been using it purely for voice chat until then) for rerouting I was amazed grok adjusted the route via voice command. While there's still work to do I'm not surprised it's going to do more. So yeah!
Those of us who built software before generative AI must accept our dinosaur moment—not as defeat, but as awakening. Agentic AI challenges our deepest assumptions, while the post-gen generation begins unburdened. The path forward is clear: keep learning, and let the intelligence we created evolve us in return.
@ai_for_success This has to become a lot better . Just the expressions for the scene - perhaps more surrounding prompts? I know soon we will be making movies with all legalities kicking in with Napster times all over again....
@karpathy The age of self-aware software has arrived. I created a next-gen “Hello World” where the unit knows its own scope, understands how it runs, and can adapt itself — including generating output in multiple user-desired languages.
I completely agree — Tesla often doesn’t get enough recognition for the sheer number of features it offers. It’s one thing to read about a Tesla, but an entirely different experience to drive one regularly and truly appreciate its design. For me, it was the Full Self-Driving capability that sealed the deal — it’s the main reason I decided to buy my Tesla back in 2022.
Everything around us must be reimagined and rebuilt in light of this new intelligence—while quantum looms, ready to transform it all again at a grand scale. Switching between a regular computer and tools like ChatGPT feels awkward. We need a seamless fusion where everything we do or say on a laptop is infused with intelligence—a true prompt-away experience.
My article on the ongoing, likely unconstitutional funding freeze at USAID now imperiling millions of lives: “This is not a pause. It is a destruction.”
USAID is also where the Administration is testing out its playbook for eviscerating other agencies.

Through struggle and discipline, persistence and faith, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. helped move this country forward. As we honor his legacy today, let’s remember the lesson he taught us: that even in the face of impossible odds, people who love this country can help change it. In honor of #MLKDay, I hope you’ll do what you can in your community to create a better future for us all.
@GerberKawasaki Driving with visual issues like in rain or other weather conditions makes it difficult with cameras alone - just like us and unfortunately need that crutch... Love to have few hardware in the car but...
