These are the goons sent by @JohnMbadiN to disrupt public participation in the Finance Bill 2026 at All Saints Cathedral today. They later started robbing people as they left the premises of the the church.
🚨 GOONS CANNOT SILENCE THE PEOPLE'S VOICE
We strongly condemn the violent disruption of the Post-Budget Forum at All Saints Cathedral, a peaceful gathering that brought together citizens, civil society, faith leaders, and private sector actors to discuss the national budget and its impact on ordinary Kenyans.
The use of violence and intimidation to silence public participation is an attack on democracy and the constitutional rights of all Kenyans.
This is not an isolated incident. The growing use of goons to disrupt lawful civic engagement and instill fear must be rejected by all who believe in democracy, accountability, and the rule of law.
No amount of intimidation will stop citizens from engaging in conversations about the future of our country.

State-hired goons have stormed a meeting where the KHRC and other CSOs were discussing the 2026-2027 budget that was presented yesterday. One of the assailants was arrested and said he was sent by a government official. Some valuables, including a phone, were stolen during the incident.
The civil society held this meeting at All Saints Cathedral in Nairobi to assess how well the budget addressed citizen concerns. We condemn this act of intimidation and assert that it will not deter us from scrutinizing the budget. We will continue to demand that it put the interests of the people at front and center.
We condemn the arbitrary arrest of former Chief Justice Maraga & Cde Ojango of @UhaiWetu, who are currently being held at Lang’ata Station for protesting the government's intended takeover of Bomas land. We demand their immediate release, & the withdrawal of all trumped charges

We were deeply saddened to learn about the passing of our friend and colleague, human rights giant Mugambi Kiai, who led @article19eafric with courage and compassion. Our community has lost a true defender who always challenged injustice.
Rest in peace.

Press statement: @ReformsGroup condemns transfer of officers implicated in Nandi brutality, warns of systemic impunity and command responsibility failures. Police reform requires independent oversight, firm disciplinary action, and adherence to constitutional and legal standards.
Sheryl Adhiambo was killed by a police officer last night at huruma jonsaga while helping her mother sell fish in their kibanda. We condemn this senseless police violence and demand that the officers responsible be arrested immediately. This is just one of many killings carried out by police how many more lives must be lost before justice is served?
This morning, a young life was taken in a senseless and avoidable act of violence. Adan Shukri was driving a Toyota Fielder with two of his friends at Bhakita stage when their car slightly scratched a matatu. What should have remained a minor traffic incident escalated after the matatu driver threw a stone, shattering the rear windscreen of their car.
Adan and his friends stepped out and a confrontation followed. In the midst of this altercation, two police officers emerged from a Noah vehicle. Instead of de-escalating the situation one officer opened fire, fatally shooting Adan Shukri.
We have since been informed that the two police officers involved have been arrested and are currently detained at Embakasi Police Station. While this is a step toward accountability, arrest alone is not justice . A minor road incident did not warrant a death sentence. The use of lethal force was unjustified and unlawful. We demand a full, transparent investigation and justice for Adan Shukri and his family.
A life has been lost and several others are injured. Families are in pain following the ongoing forced evictions in Mukuru Riara. This is heartbreaking and deeply unjust. No one should die or be harmed simply because they are being evicted from their home. Forced evictions carried out without care, planning or relocation strip people of dignity and put lives at risk. Relocation must come before eviction. Human life must come first. We mourn the life lost, pray for the injured, and stand in solidarity with the affected families. This pain was preventable. We demand accountability and an immediate end to inhumane evictions. Lives matter.
🚨 URGENT ACTION: FEAR OF REFOULEMENT IN KENYA
Amnesty International is deeply concerned that Mustafa Güngör who was arrested with his wife Zeliha, daughters Seniha Betül and Zeynep, and his in-laws Zümrüt and Salim is at serious risk of refoulement to Türkiye, where he could be subjected to arbitrary detention, torture, or ill-treatment. We have reliably learnt the Turkiye authorities sought his arrest through a Mutual Legal Assistance request to office of the Attorney General. Kenya has an obligation under international law not to return anyone to a country where they face persecution or harm. We call on the @DCI_Kenya and both authorities to: ✅ Respect the legal principle of non-refoulement ✅ Ensure due process and protection for family ✅ Allow continued access to legal representation and UNHCR and @Kenyajudiciary
Our officers are currently at the DCI Upper Hill with family lawyers. #StopRefoulement #HumanRights #Kenya #Türkiye
Human trafficking isn’t always violent or cross-border. In Kenya, it appears through deception, unpaid labor, abuse of power, and exploitation of vulnerability. Trafficking is about control, not movement—and recognizing it is a moral and political duty.

Yet another death in police custody! Sad!
23 years old boda boda rider Jack Deon Maloba was arrested and checked in at Kawangware police post, Nairobi on Thursday 11th December 2025 around 7pm in the evening. About 4 hours later, he was dead and taken to City Mortuary where the body was booked in at 10.50pm.
Police claim he was alone in the cells when he hanged himself with a T-shirt. However, the said T-shirt has not been availed. Family says the suspect’s body has all the clothes he had on. The mark on his next shows possible use of a wire.
Jack leaves behind a 2 year old daughter.
As we continue to commemorate the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence(GBV), we are reminded of the importance of standing together in solidarity to end GBV in all its forms, and how resilience keeps us moving forward.
Be an ally, Stand up. Speak out.

@VOCALAfrica_@LawSocietyofKe@AmnestyKenya welcome the release of Nicholas Oyoo and Bob Njagi after 39 days of their enforced disappearance.
We extend our appreciation to the Kenyan and Ugandan governments at the highest level and the immediate former President of Kenya for their cooperation towards their safe return. We thank their families, Free Kenya movement colleagues, human rights defenders, journalists, diplomats and active citizens who have tirelessly campaigned for this moment.
Let this moment signal an important shift towards upholding the human rights of East Africans anywhere in East African Community. We are facilitating their transfer to Nairobi and will give details of their arrival for family, friends and comrades to meet them.
Freedom of speech and expression is enshrined in the Constitution and there is No law nor president who can take that away. We’ll defend it in the streets if we must. #RejectTheCyberCrimeAct
The new Computer Misuse and Cybercrimes (Amendment) Act, 2024 introduces vague concepts that can be abused to curtail freedoms. The Bill was poorly drafted. #FixingTheNationNTV@nationfmke@ericlatiff@mariambishar @officialjmbugua
