I teach the Venezuela case study, and there’s one thing people conveniently forget, so let me spell it out.

Sovereignty is not optional. It is the highest priority of any country whether it’s run by geniuses, clowns, or failed leaders.

If a country’s leadership is bad, that is for its people to change. History is very clear on this! When people unite, regimes fall. Unity, not foreign missiles, is the most powerful force a society has.

But here’s the part the “liberators” never tell you! When foreign forces parachute in claiming they’re here to “save” you, what follows is not freedom. It’s chaos, extraction, and decades of abusing resources.

Kidnapping presidents doesn’t create democracy!
Bombs don’t build institutions!
And sovereignty doesn’t survive “humanitarian invasions”!

Expect your resources quietly changing hands.

Venezuela deserves democracy.

But believing that does not mean the US gets to break international law, ignore Congress, and unilaterally overthrow the government of a sovereign nation to “police the world.”

So a simple question for MAGA:

Are you still against regime change and endless U.S. intervention abroad, or was that principle only convenient before Trump did it?

You don’t get to oppose imperial overreach in theory and cheer it in practice when your guy is the one pulling the trigger.

Maduro was een wrede dictator. Hij stortte zijn land in de afgrond, verloor de verkiezingen en bleef onrechtmatig aan de macht. Veel Venezolanen zullen opgelucht zijn dat hij weg is.

Tegelijkertijd geldt: dit is niet de manier. De bombardementen op Caracas, het gevangennemen van Maduro en zijn vrouw en het overnemen van een landsbestuur staan haaks op het internationaal recht. Een precedent met grote risico’s voor de rest van de wereld.

Unilaterally attacking a sovereign nation is an act of war and a violation of federal and international law.

This blatant pursuit of regime change doesn’t just affect those abroad, it directly impacts New Yorkers, including tens of thousands of Venezuelans who call this city home.
