#Myanmar people refuse to be governed by this criminal entity. They are dismantling it. Headlines that crown their tormentor “president” strip them of that agency and reward the #violence designed to break them.
🚫Stop calling him "President."

Honoured to stand side by side with #Rohingya elders, brothers and sisters at this significant moment for our community, as we unveiled this memorial alongside the Lord Mayor of Newcastle, Cllr Henry Gallagher.
This video, in Rohingya language, captures the true message of this memorial: giving voice to our people, honouring those we have lost and reflecting the strength and resilience of our community.
“It will give a voice to all those who were silenced and recognise the resilience of the survivors… It will ensure their suffering is not ignored nor forgotten.” — Cllr Henry Gallagher. @NewcastleCC

Military junta with civilian clothes but, with same military personnels has continued its brutal violence against civilians including #airstrikes, arson and massive killings.
We urge #MPs in #Istanbul at #IPU152 to raise your voice to end junta's violence against people of #Myanmar.
Grateful to @H4bibRahman, @NewcastleCC and the people of Newcastle for standing with us yesterday.
Together, we unveiled a permanent memorial to the #Rohingya genocide—a deeply emotional moment for our community, as we honoured those we have lost, acknowledged survivors, and stood in solidarity with our Rohingya brothers and sisters who continue to suffer in #Burma and in refugee camps.
We are deeply grateful to all those who made this possible- especially our partners #Newcastle City Council, Rohingya Action North East (RANE), and the British Rohingya Community (BRC)- and to those who stood with us on the day, including Cllr Karen Kilgour, Ann Schofield, Dr Maung Zarni and Dr Nat Brinham, Dr M. Nazrul Islam, Ruby Moe and Richard Kotter, Nur Huda and Nijam Uddin, Sirazul Islam, Shaukat Ahmed MBE, Alice Gaparay and Mohammed Wafi, as well as the Lord Mayor of Newcastle, Henry Gallagher, and the Mayor of Sunderland, Ehthesham Hoque.
This memorial ensures that the genocide is not forgotten and that our place in history is recognised.
Even though we are scattered around the world, we are one community. We will not rest until our community has justice, the full restoration of our rights, and the ability to return safely to our homeland.
