Together, we unveiled a permanent memorial to the #Rohingya genocide—a deeply emotional moment for our community, as we honoured those we have lost, acknowledged survivors, and stood in solidarity with our Rohingya brothers and sisters who continue to suffer in #Burma and in refugee camps.

We are deeply grateful to all those who made this possible- especially our partners #Newcastle City Council, Rohingya Action North East (RANE), and the British Rohingya Community (BRC)- and to those who stood with us on the day, including Cllr Karen Kilgour, Ann Schofield, Dr Maung Zarni and Dr Nat Brinham, Dr M. Nazrul Islam, Ruby Moe and Richard Kotter, Nur Huda and Nijam Uddin, Sirazul Islam, Shaukat Ahmed MBE, Alice Gaparay and Mohammed Wafi, as well as the Lord Mayor of Newcastle, Henry Gallagher, and the Mayor of Sunderland, Ehthesham Hoque.
