“DAD, HOW GOOD WAS QB MARCUS MARIOTA IN HIS PRIME AT OREGON…?”
One of the most ELECTRIC players in college football history.
Mariota in an Oregon uniform was DIFFERENT.

Rejecting a job candidate for being "overqualified" usually just means the hiring manager is terrified the new hire will either demand market-rate pay or immediately realize how dysfunctional the department is.
REAL coaching is not about recruiting a bunch of dudes and teaching them to do things that only dudes can do well.
REAL coaching is taking athletically average kids who have been getting off the cheese wagon at your school for years and teaching them to play basic fundamentally sound football with great effort.
Alex Golesh brought the Auburn band into the team room to teach them the fight song. The marching band director said it’s the first time in 20 years he’s been asked to do that.
He also dropped an absolute bar about being a thermostat…
Varsity practice today is at 5:30 and ends at 7:45. Uppers only if heat permits.
JV will practice at 3:30 and end at 4:45 in Helmets only. Adjusted due to severe heat
"Sorry @ReggieBush, we can't offer you. You play in the fake wing T offense. We have to instead offer the kid that runs a 4.8 because he plays in the spread. A real offense"
- Wing T hater if they became a P4 Coach
I get this Q a lot. What workouts should I do while on vacation so I’m not behind when I get back?
Show up when your supposed to throughout the year & work hard, so when your vacation comes you can take a break and relax, because you’ve earned it. You won’t be behind.
Just talked to a group of my HS football players from a certain school
the workout today: 6x12 cleans 🤡🤢
Sport coaches: believe it or not, it is okay to not know what you’re doing and seek outside help
you are actively wasting your athletes time with shit like this. Do better.
The #1 mistake high school coaches make:
Stopping strength training when the season starts.
2x/week at maintained intensity during the season = preserved strength, preserved power, FEWER injuries.
The science is clear. The practice isn’t.
Taking algebra doesn’t make you a math teacher. Lifting/playing in college doesn’t make you a strength coach. A PE license covers PE—not the weight room, program design, coaching kids under a bar. We would never do this anywhere else in education. The weight room is no exception.
Your PE licensure isn't a strength coach credential, because 75% of PE teachers serving in strength roles average a 45% score on a validated S&C knowledge assessment.
That's not an opinion. That's Kern et al., 2024.

“Football is a violent sport, and if you don't kind of go to that dark place to be violent and be physical, you're not going to last very long."— George Kittle
